Are Mulder and Scully Handcuffed Together in The X-Files Season 11 Trailer?!

The X-Files Season 11 trailer released at New York Comic Con yesterday has a lot for Mulder and Scully shippers to love: Scully cupping Mulder's face from her hospital bed, Mulder yelling “My son is none of your business” to some generic baddie, Scully shooting from behind the kitchen table in the Unremarkable House she and Mulder once shared, Scully whispering “William” before turning around, and, oh, yeah, a blink-and-you'll-miss-it shot of what looks like Mulder and Scully running while handcuffed together, a concept heretofore reserved for X-Files fanfic! Watch the trailer above, and then watch it again to soak in the magnificence of new Mulder/Scully content.

Mulder and Scully run while handcuffed in The X-FilesDesperate for more clues about what the new season will hold? During the X-Files panel—featuring stars Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny, and Mitch Pileggi, as well as series creator Chris Carter—that followed the premiere of the trailer, we learned from Carter that Mulder and Scully will get “kissin' close” and that we'll see more of their long-lost son, William, than we have since he was a baby in Season 9. What exactly does that mean? Well, Anderson seemed to confirm that we'll see a teenage William in the flesh, because when asked about which of his parents William resembles more, she responded: “Well, he's got David's (Mulder's) height, I'll tell you that much.” For all this and a cute story about how Duchovny realized he'd step in between Anderson and a bear, watch the full X-Files panel from Comic Con, moderated by TVLine founder Michael Ausiello.

No premiere date for The X-Files Season 11 has yet been set, but we'll update this article as soon as we get that news. In the meantime, what's the first thought that popped into your head as you watched the trailer and/or the panel? Are you as psyched as I am to see Scully getting in on the action scenes? Do you want to see William join his birth parents' quest or are you hoping he makes a quick exit? Tell me everything.

Author's Note: Wondering what song is playing halfway through the trailer? Me too! Seems to be a cover of The Cranberries' “Zombie,” but the artist is a mystery. If you have intel, tape an X in your window and turn on a lamp—or just leave me a comment!

This trailer looks very cool...still not sold on giving The X-Files a go, but I'm happy for everyone who's been waiting!

@JenWattley -- Whoever cut this trailer knows what the fans want...whether it's what CC is actually giving us or just creative editing on the part of someone at FOX, only time will tell! But HANDCUFFED TOGETHER, Jen! That's a shipper's dream!

@TeddyP -- I respect your practical dose of skepticism, you do Scully proud. I've pretty much resigned myself to the show not making a whole lot of sense anymore, so I guess I'm mostly excited that M & S look real good together, as usual.
