E.L. James Sheds Light on Darker: Fifty Shades Darker as Told by Christian

Darker by EL JamesFifty Shades trilogy author E.L. James has officially announced Darker: Fifty Shades Darker As Told by Christian, complete with a cover and release date!

In a Facebook post minutes ago, James shared the news that Darker will be released in both the U.S. and the U.K. very soon: November 28, 2017!

Darker follows in the footsteps of Grey, which gave us insight into how Christian Grey saw the events of Fifty Shades of Grey, the first volume of Christian and Anastasia Steele's love story in James's Fifty Shades trilogy, which was itself inspired by Edward and Bella's romance in the Twilight saga by Stephenie Meyer.

Here's the official book description:

E L James revisits the world of Fifty Shades with a deeper and darker take on the love story that has enthralled millions of readers around the globe.

Their scorching, sensual affair ended in heartbreak and recrimination, but Christian Grey cannot get Anastasia Steele out of his mind, or his blood. Determined to win her back, he tries to suppress his darkest desires and his need for complete control, and to love Ana on her own terms.

But the horrors of his childhood still haunt him, and Ana’s scheming boss, Jack Hyde, clearly wants her for himself.  Can Christian’s confidant and therapist, Dr. Flynn, help him face down his demons? Or will the possessiveness of Elena, his seducer, and the deranged devotion of Leila, his former submissive, drag Christian down into the past?

And if Christian does win Ana back, can a man so dark and damaged ever hope to keep her?

“The inside of Christian Grey's head is a fascinating place to be,” said James in a press release sent out to the media this morning. “In Grey we got the first glimpse of what makes Christian tick, but in Darker we go deeper, into his most painful memories and the encounters that made him the damaged, demanding man Ana falls in love with. Writing this novel has been a journey of discovery, and I hope readers will find what I’ve learned as compelling as I did."

Plus, don't forget, the movie adaptation of Fifty Shades Freed, where Christian and Ana get their Happily Ever After, will hit theaters on Valentine's Day 2018! So basically, stay tuned to H&H for more on all things Fifty Shades.

I think I'll pass. I'm so over the Fifty Shades trope to be honest but they seem to be cropping up all over the place like weeds. I'll be more than happy for this trope to die a violent death. We need new tropes because this brand of erotica and the generic New Adult is making romance novels too predictable.
