Who’s Your Favorite Highlander?

Highlander Most Wanted by Maya BanksAt H&H we love a good Highlander. Whether the Scotsman in question is Jamie Fraser on Outlander or any of the Scots we fell in love with in romance, there are just so many! With Outlander just around the corner, we want to know: who's your favorite Highlander? What author do you think writes the best Scottish romances?

Tell us about it in the comments!

My favorite Highlander would definitely be Duncan MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod. <g>

Seriously, probably Liam MacKenzie, aka The Demon Highlander in The Highlander by Kerrigan Byrne. I love everything she writes.

The one that's stuck with me the most is Graeme Montgomery from Never Seduce a Scot by Maya Banks.

So many Highlanders to choose from how can we decide?! I'll forever adore Jamie ala Outlander because of Sam Heughan's amazing portrayal of the character but I also absolutely love Gabriel from Julie Garwood's Saving Grace and Brodick Buchanan from Ransom also by Julie Garwood.

Definitely Julie Garwood is the QUEEN of Highlanders hands down.

Me, too! Me, too! Me, too! I love Brodick from Ransom. Burly, gruff and oh so sweet to Gillian. My first highlander love. :)
5. Susan Shapley
Jamie Fraser, of course
Lachlan "Viper" MacRuairi, hero of The Viper by Monica McCarty

Other than the amazing Diana Galbaldon, my favorite highlander writer is the wonderful Monica McCarty. Her research is also superb. Viper is part of an exciting, well-written series, The Highland Guard.

Exactly what Susan Shapley said.
I adore Gabaldon and McCarty. For me, they are queens of Scottish historicals!
And Viper is also my favorite of Highland Guard.

One of the very few times I've walked into a bookstore and bought a book that I hadn't read--or for that matter, by an author I'd never read-- I picked up The Wedding by Julie Garwood at Borders when I was 15. I started reading it immediately in the car and didn't put it down until I'd finished. Connor MacAlister was the perfect hero and that started what will no doubt surely be a lifelong fondness for Scotland and Highland heroes!

Nobody better than Jamie Fraser. They don't call him the King of Men for nothin'

Talorc Sinclair from Moon Craving by Lucy Monroe. I like some of my Highlanders with a little wolf in them.

I have quite a Highlander romance collection, but my two favorite authors of the genre are the incomparable Hannah Howell and Julie Garwood. The Murray Clan series by Howell has so many great heroes and heroines, but the one that comes to my mind now is Sigimor Cameron, who appears in several of the novels, but his story title is Highland Conqueror and it is unforgettable! I also love the hero of Garwood's Ransom, Brodick Buchannan; as a matter of fact I have to go and re-read that one right now. Brodick is calling my name!

Definitely Dageus from Karen Marie Monings Dark Highlander.
He is so yummy, that burr, and so conflicted. I like that he gets kinda "dark" with his thoughts.
Any Highlander that KMM writes is pure Gold, but Dageus will Always be my fave.

From a romance novel perspective Maya Banks hands down. I can't wait for her to get back to her amazing genres before the "shades of gray" phenomenon took over. I believe Maya Banks originals were so much better than "shades of gray" and was very bummed when she jumped on the band wagon.

Outlander series is my romance/historic/everything favorite Scots books!
