Do You Have a Famous Bookstore or Library You’d Like to Visit?

Trinity College Library in Dublin

I think many bibliophiles can relate to trying to find a cute local bookstore or beautiful library while on vacation. Sometimes vacations are even built around a pilgrimage to that location.

Are there any famous bookstores or libraries that you want to visit? Have you visited any iconic libraries or bookstores already? Do you plan trips specifically to go to these places, or do you prefer them to be more of a happy coincidence while you travel?

I have a Holy Trinity of libraries - the Library of Congress, the British Library and the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building of NYPL (the one with the famous lions out front) - and I'm happy to say I've been to them all.

I also recommend the Morgan library because really, how can I not?

The only library left that I'd like to see would be Trinity College in Dublin because the architecture looks so amazing. In fact, I'm pretty sure that's the picture accompanying this post :)

The Ripped Bodice sounds like heaven for romance fans, so definitely that one, but SuperWendy's picks are ALSO downright dreamy...

Definitely The Ripped Bodice. And I'd like to go to Shakespeare & Co. in Paris.

As for libraries, I've been to both the old British Library that was next to the British museum - - with the reading room where so many famous writers and researchers studied, which was amazing. And also to the newer modern version which was awesome in a different way.

Haven't been to either the Library of Congress or the NYPL but one day soon I hope! I'd also like to visit the Athenaeum and the Enoch Pratt Free Library in... Baltimore? Boston? Too lazy to check right now. I've just come in from outdoors and it's eleventy billion degrees out, so...

My name is on a wall someplace from the days when I was a "friend" of the Library of Congress, so it is on my library visit list. I'd also like to visit the Book of Kells in person at Trinity College.
