The Best of the Best: Erotic Romances Best Bets for 2016

I’m a lucky girl in that my job is to read romance. Every month I offer up a list of erotic romances that I feel best represents the genre. Not only do I look for a well-crafted romance with realistic erotic elements but also a viable storyline that could stand on its own should those erotic elements be removed. As we are about to exit 2016, I have not only picked my erotic romance best bets for December, but also my best bets for the year.

My Erotic Romance Best Bets for 2016

True North by Tamsen Parker

True North by Tamsen Parker

The fourth installment in Parker’s Compass gives readers a sweet, sensual, heartbreaking, and humorous second chance romance that uses BDSM to give two people a chance to learn more about themselves and their places in this world. Parker focuses on communication, acceptability, trust, and forgiveness as she helps her hero and heroine find their happily ever after-one kinky scene at a time.

Black Listed by Shelly Bell

This lusciously erotic and suspenseful romance elicits a strong emotional response when it forces a couple to deal with their greatest enemies-themselves. A woman with a hundred identities must pay the piper when her husband finds her after she disappears without a word. She demands a divorce. He demands answers and plans to get them with unfettered access to her body for seven nights. Passion and pain war together in a whirlwind of sensual delights when a woman’s secrets and desires are flayed open by the only man she has ever loved...and the only man she can never have.

Be My Fantasy by Alisha Rai

Be My Fantasy by Alisha Rai

When a self-proclaimed good girl gives into her most sexually fueled fantasies, all sorts of deliciously dirty, and erotic experiences are waiting to be discovered. Don’t be fooled by the short length of this serial novella. Alisha Rai writes a full bodied story that opens up a tantalizing world of lush risqué domination and submission with an exploration of role playing and alter egos between two charismatic protagonists.

Worth the Wait by Joey W. Hill

Joey Hill is a siren whose seductive voice calls to readers and demands a piece of their hearts in exchange for her stories. Though erotic in nature with a light BDSM base, this particular story is an emotional virtuoso as a woman’s desires to explore her submissive side places her in the hands of a dominant whose own personal demons will require this couple to strip themselves down to the bone in order to be free to accept the gift they have been given.

Brutal Game by Cara McKenna

Brutal Game by Cara McKenna

The long-awaited sequel to Cara McKenna’s Willing Victim will delight in the range and depth McKenna uses to explore a relationship that started on a whim and built itself emotionally and physically among the tangled veins of a dark and gritty sexual fantasy. Our favorite couple are now comfortably exploring their boundaries and blending their sexual needs in a committed relationship. Using dual narrative helps to tease out the nuances of their love; especially when an event occurs that cause confusion in their lives and their relationship. Bold erotic scenes and frank narrative help to solidify that notion that this couple is strong together; despite the attraction of their consensual illicit kink.

Bound to Submit by Laura Kaye

This sinfully erotic delicious second chance romance gently pushes a couple towards emotional and physical healing when the fates align to bring them back together. Exquisitely written BDSM scenes help to soothe the pain, horror, and guilt of a woman whose life was drastically altered by war but Laura Kaye pushes the emotional boundaries when she demands more from her hero and heroine then a simple sexual connection.

Perv by Dakota Gray

Perv by Dakota Gray

Arrogant, obnoxious jerks often make the best redemption stories because when they fall, they fall hard. Dakota Gray proves this theory in Perv. A one man sexual wrecking ball meets his match when our heroine decides he needs to be taught a lesson for his love em’ and leave em’ attitude. Only she finds herself falling for his charm, talents, and extremely dirty mouth.  Told from the male perspective, Gray writes a laughter filled, erotically charged, and surprisingly emotional love story that teases and enchants the readers into falling for the 'Perv' themselves.

Burn the Night by Molly O’Keefe, writing as M. O'Keefe

M. O'Keefe is the queen of creating characters so broken you are certain they will never survive the journey towards their redemption. Joan and Max have spent their lives fighting against themselves. Self-recrimination and shame is the theme of this story as a chance encounter leads them down an emotionally charged erotic and dangerous road that shows them that everyone deserves happiness-even those they feel are unworthy.

Wanderlust by Roni Loren

Wanderlust by Roni Loren

Roni Loren never fails to impress me with her dynamic characters and erotically charged romances. Laughter, tears, redemption, and love opens the door for an emotionally damaged journalist and a bad boy rock star whose main agenda to keep his band’s secrets safe from the tabloids changes when he discovers a woman for whom he would give it all up for. Though the journey is a wild unpredictable ride, the ending is well worth the price of the ticket.

Wild Licks by Cecilia Tan

Everyone has a mask they present to the world but what happens when you find the one person who not only sees beyond the mask to the person behind it...but understands what and why you are hiding?  Emotional angst, drama, and a seemingly impossible romance are just the tip of the iceberg for a couple who choose to explore their dark erotic desires together.

Boiling Point by Tessa Bailey

Tessa Bailey is a master at growing an intense and emotional love affair from a hate filled garden and she excels when she pits a con artist against a master hacker in a story of love, loss, deception, and redemption. Dark desires battle it out as two emotionally locked individuals try to deny the chemistry soaked connection that exists between them. The suspenseful plotline only adds to intensity of this explosive romance.

And let’s not forget my erotic romance best bets for December.

Wound Tight by Tessa Bailey

Wound Tight by Tessa Bailey

When CEO Renner Bastion walks into a room, everyone keeps their distance. Well, everyone but the sarcastic, tattooed, Boston-bred security guard whose presence has kept Renner in New Jersey longer than intended. As if the unwanted attraction isn’t unsettling enough, Renner finds out his protector isn’t as unavailable as originally thought.

Milo Bautista just came out to his wealthy, ultra-confident boss, a man he secretly respects and admires…in more ways than he’ll admit. Worldly, experienced Renner would never look in his direction, let alone share some of that confidence he wears like a cloak, so Milo has set his sights on someone else to be his first.

Until Renner offers him private lessons in seduction…

The last book in Bailey’s blue collar Made in Jersey series brings us a deliciously organic and seductive MM employer/employee erotic romance that offers two men a chance for happiness despite their differences.

Due South by Tamsen Parker

Due South by Tamsen Parker

Lucy Miller has worked her way up from coffee-fetcher and copy-maker to invaluable assistant. She’s proud of her accomplishments, but she’s looking forward to a break from her demanding boss; a visit home is just the Christmas treat she needs.

Diligent and unassuming, Chanoch Evans has avoided relationships not just out of shyness, but because he doesn’t feel like he has anything to offer—most of his resources are devoted to his war-veteran younger brother.

When a desperate plea from their boss ruins their holiday plans, Lucy and Evans are stuck in an otherwise empty office with only each other for company. After catching their boss in flagrante, they start to see that each other’s mild workplace personas might be just the tip of the iceberg. Despite the prohibition against fraternization between employees, there may be more than kissing going on underneath this mistletoe…

The final installment in Parker’s Compass series is a fun and lighthearted erotic romance that allows two introverts the freedom to step outside of their perceived roles to explore their sexuality and life choices without judgment or censure.

Wrong for Me by Jackie Ashenden

Wrong for Me by Jackie Ashenden

After eight years in prison, Levi Rush is finally out and back on the gritty streets of Detroit to claim the future he was owed. A future that includes the one woman he’s wanted for years—his former best friend Rachel. She’s the reason he went inside and if getting her to do what he wants means buying the building that houses her tattoo studio and using it as leverage, then that’s what he’ll do. Because if there’s one thing he’s learned inside it’s that if you want to win, you have to play dirty.

Rachel Hamilton is a tattoo artist and one hell of a tough girl. Detroit is her home, and she’s determined to make it a better place. But her plans are threatened when her old friend Levi reappears and gives her an ultimatum: she gives herself to him body and soul, or else she and her business are out on the street. Levi’s got no room in his heart for anything but anger and the lust he’s been carrying around for so long. But the only thing stronger than the secrets of their shared past is their fiery attraction to each other

Love and hate are passionate emotions that can’t exist without the other. Ashendon proves this when a man bent of revenge comes home to learn that the darkness that exists inside him can only be extinguished by the woman whom he blames for everything.

One Hot December by Tiffany Reisz

One Hot December by Tiffany Reisz

Never mess with a woman who carries a blowtorch in her backpack. Welder and artist Veronica “Flash” Redding's playful sense of evil sometimes gets the better of her. Like when her insanely handsome, wealthy, suited-up boss gave her the most sensuously wicked night of her life…then dumped her. Yep, revenge is a dish best served hot.

Only Ian Asher isn't quite letting Flash get away quite so easily. He's not ready to forget the intensity between them. The searing heat when they touch. And the deliciously demanding control Ian wields in the bedroom. Now he has only the holidays to convince Flash that they belong together…and that even the most exquisite, broken things can be welded back together.

HO! HO! HO! Reisz does more than stuff a few stockings in this Christmas tale of love, laughter, and erotic shenanigans when two complete opposites find that in the bedroom (or closet, break room, etc…) anything is possible when the holiday spirit is among us.

Deny by Jade Chandler

Deny by Jade Chandler

When we f*ck I forget my name, but I never planned to love her.

I never thought I'd make her my old lady.

From our very first scene, we've been fighting for control. She's the one woman who can bring me to my knees, make me beg. Make me feel.

Now I need to give it all up to save her.

Fury is my weapon when I confront the enemies bold enough to lay hands on my gorgeous Marr. Raw rage is what's fueling my fight against the ones who want to end everything the Brotherhood stands for.

We're on the brink of war and I will burn this club to the ground before I let them hurt my woman again.

The third book in Chandler’s erotic romance suspense MC series goes hardcore when the club president must be willing to submit sexually and emotionally in order to save his club and win the heart of the only woman strong enough to stand with him against the war that is coming.
