Double, Double, Secrets, and Trouble: New Adult Best Bets for October 2015

Wrong by Jana AstonOctober’s New Adult picks brings on a lot of strong characters. From struggling to find a new career to fighting pasts that don’t seem to go away, these characters show us emotions on a grand scale. With secrets that rear their ugly heads, I found that each of the stories in this month showed us different ways to show strength. Whether it be, fighting for your rights (not just to party) or showing us that you CAN make your own future regardless of your past, these stories, hit all the right marks.

Wrong by Jana Aston is a rom-com that keeps the laughs rolling. Sophie always falls for the wrong guy and she keeps the record going by falling in serious like with her regular coffee shop customer. Sounds fine? Turns out he’s her new gynecologist. However, Luke is the man of her dreams and their road to HEA is filled with hilarious moments and lots of steamy connections.

Chaser by Staci Hart falls under the-don’t-date-my-little-sister genre. Cooper didn’t think about Maggie as anything other than his best friend’s sister, until the night of her wedding. Cooper’s playboy reputation precedes him leading to some trouble. But, Maggie might be the one to make him change it all.

Dirty English by Ilsa Madden-MillsDirty English by Ilsa Madden-Mills has a base on the classic Pride and Prejudice. Elizabeth Bennet (our heroine in DE) has had a hard life and is trying to do her best for a great future. With a wild mother and a past that doesn’t stop knocking, it seems impossible to do so. When she realizes her sexy charismatic neighbor is a well-known fighter, she immediately tries to avoid him because he does not fit into her plan! But, one night changes it all and how do you just ignore the passion that’s born between them?

Breaking a Legend by Sarah Robinson features Clara Ivers who is on the run. She ends up in a close-knit Bronx neighborhood. Finding friends and a new job has brought a lot of joy into her life that’s had a very rough couple of years. Meeting Rory Kavanagh is the cherry on top, he’s the neighborhood legend but is hiding some vicious demons. Clara and Rory both must fight for each other and for their chance at happiness.

The Allure of Dean Harper by R.S. Grey brings her trademark humor. Lily and Dean initially hate each other when they meet at the Dean’s restaurant. But their great dislike hides an intense sexual chemistry between the two. When they come together, will it destroy everything they’ve worked so hard for?

All I Need Is You by Wendy S. MarcusAll I Need Is You by Wendy S. Marcus brings a marine and dancer together. Starting off as pen pals, Neve never expected her latest whim to bring about a strong connection with a faceless Marine. Rory loved receiving Neve’s letters and when they finally meet, it’s destroyed by a person from his past. With a sense of humor and chemistry that can’t be denied, Rory refuses to allow Neve to turn her back on him.

Beyond What is Given by Rebecca Yarros is the third in the Flight & Glory standalone series. This tight group of friends, in flight school, keeps you on your toes and Lt. Greyson Masters is no exception. Sam is their new roommate and Greyson has no idea what to do with her. He’s extremely fascinating as he’s tight-lipped and an overall grouch. Their connection is instant and they balance each other out. But, Greyson has been tight-lipped for a reason and as his secrets are revealed, you’re on the edge of your seat trying to figure out all the surprising turns. Um, can this series never end?!

Until Jax: Until Him by Aurora Rose Reynolds is the start to the Until Him series and it starts with a boom. I love Jax, you may recognize him as the little boy from Until Lilly. His story is filled with alpha antics and swoonworthy activities. Falling in love with Ellie Anthony was great in and of itself, but adding a pintsized cutie upped the anti. He not only makes Ellie fall in love you him but the reader, as well.

Forever with You by Jennifer L. ArmentroutForever with You by Jennifer L. Armentrout reunites you with the gang. The fifth standalone in one of my favorite series, Stephanie and Nick don’t disappoint. Stephanie is fighting double standards and Nick is the broody friend with a mysterious demeanor. This unlikely pair travels a tough road but find strength in each other.

The Fifteenth Minute by Sarina Bowen is very interesting read. Lianne Chalice has always lived in the spotlight now she’s trying to live a “normal” life by attending college. Meeting DJ, the broody hockey player dj (yes, that’s also his nickname) is a pleasant surprise. However, DJ is on the ropes, his college life is about to go down like a one-hit wonder and he has no idea what to do. He’s hiding it from Lianne but, what happens when the music cuts and all is revealed?

As you can see, these stories were pretty fast-paced and very exciting reads. What book will you cuddle with this month?
