I Want You To Want Me...Erotic Romance Best Bets for August 2015

Lonely Hearts by Heidi Cullinan

In need of some sexy reading material to fill your e-reader? I’m here for you. Each month I will bring you an assortment of erotic pleasure reads to tempt your palette and your credit card.

August brings change and with change often comes heartbreak and angst as the following couples must think outside the box in order to find the sexual and emotional connection they crave.

Lonely Hearts by Heidi Cullinan

With the quiet help of his wealthy family, Sebastian “Baz” Acker has successfully kept his painful past at bay. But as the end of college draws near, his friends—his buffer zone—are preparing to move on, while his own life is at a crippling standstill. With loneliness bearing down on him, Baz hooks up—then opens up—with Elijah Prince, the guy Baz took a bullet for last year. The aftershocks of their one-night stand leave giant cracks in Baz’s carefully constructed armor. For the first time, the prospect isn’t terrifying.

Accustomed to escaping his demons by withdrawing into his imagination, Elijah isn’t used to having a happy herd of friends. He’s even less comfortable as the object of a notorious playboy’s affections. Yet all signs seem to indicate this time happiness might be within his grasp. When Baz’s mother runs for a highly sought-after public office, the media hounds drag Baz’s and Elijah’s pasts into the light. In the blinding glare, Baz and Elijah face the ultimate test: discovering if they’re stronger together…or apart.

Cullinan’s third installment of her new adult romance series—Love Lessons—evolves and expands on a subplot from Fever Pitch, using it to boldly highlight the problems LGBT teenagers and young adults face in this world. Emotionally heart wrenching, an unlikely romance blooms between two lost souls whose lives were shattered by the violence that often follows homophobia. Intense sensuality blends well the self deprecating humor to keep the story from dwelling in the darkness for too long.

Evening Storm by Anne Calhoun

Evening Storm by Anne Calhoun

When it comes to the wolves of Wall Street, Ryan Hamilton is the leader of the pack. But his bravado is all bluff. The bank he works for is up to it’s assets in fraud and shady deals. And thanks to pressure from the NYPD and FBI, Ryan is working as both a trader and a whistleblower. His only respite from the tension is when he parades his latest arm candy at a fancy lingerie shop.

Simone Demarchelier owns Irresistible, crafting custom high-end lingerie. So she’s more than happy that Ryan is spending a fortune on his women. But she senses that behind the hotshot facade there is something more. Something tortured and sad. And when he flies her out to the Hamptons in the shadow of a summer thunderstorm in order to fix one of her designs, she instead finds herself stuck in the opulent home with a distraught Ryan.

Is Simone the one person who can mend Ryan’s heart and soul?

Evening Storm is a deliciously erotic and complex story that reminded me a little of One Thousand and One Nights (also referred to as The Arabian Nights). Readers will either love or hate this latest offering from Anne Calhoun as she takes a unique and somewhat controversial approach in presenting a romance where a conflicted man uses tales of his numerous sexual exploits to seduce a woman he wants but can’t have.

Servicing the Target by Cherise Sinclair

A discharged Army Ranger, Ben considers his job as a BDSM club security guard to be an excellent hobby. He’s never been tempted to join in. But everything changes when the notorious Mistress Anne inadvertently reveals the caring heart concealed beneath her Domme armor.

Now, he’s set his sights on the beautiful Shadowlands Mistress. Maybe he’d considered himself vanilla, but she can put her stiletto on his chest any day, any time. He’ll trust her delicate hands to hold his heart. And if she wants to whip his ass on the way to an outstanding climax, he’s just fine with that too.

Sure, he knows she likes “pretty boy” slaves. And he’s older. Craggy and rough. And six-five. Minor hindrances. The mission is a go.

Sensual and emotionally charged, Sinclair digs beneath the typical dominatrix storyline to showcase the mental and emotional makeup of a couple whose choices in lifestyle are more of a way to hide then truly live. The tempestuous and erotic push and pull of what they want and what they are both willing to give offers readers a unique view into the world of sadism and the joys one can receive when they give up their most precious gift of all...control.

Begging for It by Lilah Pace

Begging for It by Lilah Pace

Some secrets should only be shared in the dark.

Jonah and Vivienne’s erotic bond—living out raw scenarios of captivity and force—began as no-strings sex between strangers who shared the same desires. Now the intimacy between them is turning into love, but it’s a love built on fantasies so extreme that exploring them makes guilt inescapable. But the risks they're taking are far more dangerous than they'd imagined.

A stalker is terrorizing the city, and one of Jonah’s ex-lovers names him as a potential suspect to the police. Standing by a man under suspicion could cost Vivienne everything. But when Jonah’s stepfather takes advantage of the scandal to seize control of the Marks family fortune, Vivienne is drawn into her lover’s broken family and twisted past. Only then will she learn how dark the truth really is...

Lilah Pace’s conclusion to her stunning debut, Asking For It, is a complex and convoluted erotic romance that dissects deep obsession, dark desires, and two people whose connection is fraught with pain and passion. A tense suspense filled mystery only heightens the sexuality of the characters and the story.

Master of the Game by Jane Kindard

Master of the Game by Jane Kindred

Now that his lover is back in his arms, Belphagor is taking his own sweet time to say the words Vasily longs to hear: “You’re my boy.” And savoring the sweet torture of driving the firespirit into a frenzy of unfulfilled need.

As the undisputed master of Heaven’s gaming tables, Belphagor never plays unless he’s certain of winning. But this time, political machinations send the game—and Vasily—tumbling to the brink of even his formidable control.

Vasily can’t deny enjoying their delightfully edgy play—until the airspirit auctions him off for a night to the one demon with a gift for taking things too far. Seductive Silk, tight-lipped about the end of his relationship with the sweet submissive Phaleg, may also be involved with a new faction threatening the pregnant queen of Heaven.

Belphagor couldn’t be less interested in the games angels play, but when angelic and demonic intrigues overlap, he’s drawn in against his will. And forced to break his one inviolable rule: Never gamble what you can’t afford to lose.

This elaborate and wickedly decadent dark fantasy bombards the reader with it’s sensuality and heartbreaking reveals while building on the ongoing arc to an explosive ending. Kindred’s evolution of Belphagor from a selfish demon into a sacrificing hero who learns the true value in loving someone more then himself was a joy to experience unfolding. Extreme sexual situations and a hard core rape fantasy scene maybe triggers for some readers.
