What Is Your Favorite Period Drama Dress?

Margaret's dress in North and South

We may have started watching period dramas because of the history, the classic love stories, or the setting, however, another reason to love them are for the clothes! After all, many period dramas get nominated for awards for their costume design—we should appreciate them for all their hard work. Whether it's Margaret's dinner dress in North and South, Claire's wedding ensemble in Outlander, or a myriad of other choices, we just love all the pretty dresses.

What's your favorite dress or article of clothing from a period drama? Let us know in the comments, and share a picture!

I have always loved the dress Margaret wears in North and South, and loved Demelza's dress from last week...for many reasons!

I desperately loved Kate Winslet's wardrobe in Titanic, particularly the red beaded number. And Scarlett O'Hara, the red number she wore to Melanie's birthday party when the whole town was talking about her and Ashley.

But, yeah, I second @JenniferProffitt on Demelza's dress from last week and probably for all the same reasons. :)

I love all of the things already mentioned, and I also love Claire's peignoir from her honeymoon with Frank in the first episode of Outlander. This is the best picture of it I could find. I would love to own it myself, although I am many years older (and many pounds heavier) than Catriona Balfe!

@Lammie, oh yes, that's fabulous. And actually a REALLY good picture of it. It took me FOREVER to find any sort of usable shot of Margaret's dress in North and South

I STILL think about Claire's coat on a weekly basis. I need that coat, stat.

It's hard to pick one, 'cause I love everything Phryne Fisher wears:

Green dress Keira Knightley wore in Atonement is unforgattable

@LegeArtis is that from a PBS mystery series? I think I just saw a promo for that after Poldark.

@Phoebe - yes,. :) It'd based on series of books by Kerry Greenwood, also good. But, when it comes to show, Phryne and Jack have chemistry that's interesting to watch so there is a shipping material, but I admit I am there for Phryne and amazing clothes:

@LegeArtis And I've just added another show to my DVR! I was quite taken with the clothes just from the quick promo! :)
