Jingle Those Bells: New Adult Best Bets for December 2014

The Law of Moses by Amy HarmonIt’s the last New Adult Roundup of the Year! This has been a great year for New Adult with many titles being published. More amazing stories will be coming our way in 2015 and I’ll be waiting for them with bells on. This month these books are ringing with anticipation, thrills and secrets.

Amy Harmon’s The Law of Moses is a journey of discovery and pain. Moses had a rough beginning. Secrets and tragedy fill his days and this blooming romance with Georgia seems to be headed down a dead end street. A heartbreaking story of perseverance and strength, this will pull out all your emotions and then some.

When Delilah lands in the Hades Compound after being “rescued” from the only life she’s ever known, she hates every second of it. Desperate to return to her zealot community, she secludes herself. When Ky is tasked with protecting her, a new world is opened up to her. Hearts Recaptured by Tillie Cole tells the story of two lost souls trying to find their place in the world.

Monica Murphy begins a new trilogy with Owning Violet. Violet, the efficient middle sister of the famous Fleur Cosmetics company, has also been the passive peace-maker. With the arrival of mysterious Ryder McKay, she begins making waves and breaking through her shell. Office treachery and secrets threaten Violet professionally and personally but, she may just surprise everyone and turn the tables.

Eyes Turned Skyward by Rebecca YarrosEyes Turned Skyward by Rebecca Yarros is an emotional journey between two star-crossed lovers. Paisley is battling her own body; her heart will fail if she chooses to go without invasive surgery. Desperate to live out her life on her own terms, she turns to Jagger the only person in her life who doesn’t treat her as if she’s Bubble Boy—because he doesn’t know. Refusing to reveal her secret to him, they are both safely hidden in their own world. When things reach a high pressure point, it’s rife with ugly-crying-heart-stopping revelations (pun not intended). Jagger is swoon-worthy and their story will tug your heartstrings.

What If by AJ Pine is a unique story: the heroine, Maggie, lives her days by following the reminders she leaves on sticky notes. Her mind is her biggest enemy and she constantly fights against herself. When she meets Griffin, on the side of the road, she takes a chance and their lives are irrevocably changed.

Rosemary Beach has always been rife with secrets, but Bethy and Tripp have managed to keep their story under wrap for years. In You Were Mine by Abbi Glines, tragedy may threaten to expose their past as Bethy struggles to regain her grip on life. Tripp must decide if keeping his distance is really the right thing to do. Drawn together like magnets, Bethy’s self-imposed punishment may be coming to an end when Tripp finally makes a move. Bethy and Tripp’s story is an angst filled exploration into a second chance romance.

The Charlotte Chronicles by Jen FrederickThe Charlotte Chronicles by Jen Frederick is a roller coaster ride for Charlotte and Nathan. Spanning a decade, these childhood sweethearts must overcome tragedy, distance, time and deployment.

Emma Hart’s Dirty Secret tells the story of two high school sweethearts who meet again when circumstances force Sofie home. She left because thought she would be getting in the way of Conner’s dream, but now she’s back, she’ll have to face the consequences. This second chance romance has dirty-talking rock stars and a band of characters who are straight shooters from the south. The first in a series it mixes in emotional scenes with hilarious moments.

Ginger Scott presents a heartwarming story in You and Everything After about two people overcoming physical limitations. A delightful, funny read Cass and Ty use love and laughter as a remedy and bonding force.

Continuing the saga of the Six, End Note by Sonya Loveday follows Jared’s quest for his dream job as a musician. When he’s stranded in LA, Skylar, his manager’s niece, helps him and their attraction is instantaneous. Jared’s in the middle of a mess and secrets may tear apart his future. Holding on to Skylar might be the only thing he’s sure about.

The Rocker Who Shatters Me by Terri Anne BrowningThe Rocker Who Shatters Me by Terri Anne Browning is a second chance romance between Natalie and Devlin. After Natalie overhears the bet that was made about her, she ends their relationship. When Devlin releases his mistake he’ll break apart his rocker world to make things right.

Best friends Walker and Liza test the boundaries of their relationship in Broken Promises by Kelly Elliott. Distance tore them apart three years ago but now that they’re in the same place again they find that those lingering feelings are stronger than ever.

In Natural Love by S Celi, a taboo romance occurs between Spencer and Avery, who are stepsiblings. Amongst family secrets and turmoil, a love forged so naturally may just be impossible to ignore, no matter the circumstances.

Inspire by Cora CarmackCora Carmack mixes things up with Inspire, the story of an immortal muse destined to live alone. She finally finds a sweet, sexy guy who wants her, not her abilities. A remake of the Greek mythology tale, it’s the start of a new series.
