Strong with a Side of Sass: Feisty New Adult Heroines from Glines, Ashley, Webber, and More!

Misbehaving by Abbi GlinesIt’s refreshing to read books where the heroine is a no-holds barred kind of character, and feisty new adult heroines are inspiring in their take-charge attitudes. These ladies are usually armed with either physical prowess and/or a silver tongue. In no particular order, these are some of my favorite new adult feisty ladies:

1. Jess in Misbehaving by Abbi Glines
Jess appears in many of the Sea Breeze novels; in the opening scene of her book she’s destroying her ex-boyfriend’s truck. She had finally had enough of his crap and was letting him know. She’s strong and fights for everything she has.

2. Jaxx from Rags by Suzanne Wright
Jaxx is an orphan who later becomes a model. She has the mouth of a sailor and doesn’t let others bring her down. She’s honest and funny, she’s the one to have on your side. She’s extremely loyal and she’s always ready to jump in for a friend.

3. Tabby from Own the Wind by Kristen Ashley
I consider Own the Wind New Adult because both of the main characters fall in that age bracket. Tabby is the president’s daughter of the local motorcycle club. Having been raised in a biker club, she has a lot of sass. She easily carries the attitude that is needed to gain respect in the MC life while also being a genuinely nice person.

4. Kacey from Ten Tiny Breaths By K.A. Tucker
Kacey is like a porcupine, she’s very prickly and surly. She is her little sister’s only protector and she takes this job seriously. She fights her own battles and has the weight of the world on her shoulders. If you threaten one of her loved ones, prepare to face her wrath and witty banter!

5. Taylor from My Favorite Mistake by Chelsea M. Cameron
After a mix-up in the dorms, Taylor finds herself with Hunter, her new male roommate Hunter. After a bit of a squabble, she greets him with a punch to the face. She’s not afraid to voice her opinion and always has a funny response ready.

6. Beth from Dare You To by Katie McGarry
Beth is fiercely independent. She’s had many disappointments and keeps her cards close. When she does form relationships, she protects them, no matter the cost. This may make her seem unfriendly but as her story unfolds and you understand her better, you could become Team Beth!

7. Ari from Saved by Kelly Elliot
Ari made me laugh for most of the Wanted series. She is strong and always ready for anything you throw at her. She’s loyal to a fault and wants nothing but the best for everyone in her core group. She will do anything in her power to make certain that happens.

8. Em from Devil’s Game by Joanna Wylde
Another heroine who grew up in the MC world, Em is tough, funny and charismatic. Tired of living under her father’s thumb she decides to break out and wow, does she do it! She moves to Portland and finds herself in the middle of a MC war and becomes a key player.

9. Brooke from the Between the Lines Series by Tammara Webber
Brooke started off as the enemy in the series. Constantly butting into relationships, stirring up drama and being vicious, she was the perfect anti-hero/villain. However, as the series progresses and she matures, she grows on you. She’s incredibly determined and smart. She redeems herself in the end.

10. Riley from Perfect Regret by A. Meredith Walters
Riley is hardheaded and drove me nuts sometimes. She’s determined and knows exactly what she wants. Her sarcasm is on point and makes for some really funny moments. She’s a smart ass and isn’t afraid to speak her mind regardless of the cost.

These heroines are just some of the feisty characters that are out there. Who are some of your favorites?

Jessica spends her time daydreaming about a life within the pages of her favorite books, hoping to meet her own alpha male in an amazing meet cute. Living in Miami, she breaks the stereotype of the tanned appearance; being the palest amongst her friends takes a lot of work and it's all owed to the aforementioned books. She works all day but dreams of the day she can get paid to devour romance books all day and night. An avid reader since she could sound out words, you can find her reviewing at Bookcrack.com where she lets her reading freak flag fly!

1. SaharaHoshi
I strongly agree with Jaxx but wish Em was a bit higher on the list!
2. JessicaM
@SaharaHoshi they're in particular order. I wrote the list as it came to me and Em just happened to land as lucky number 8. Em and Jaxx cracked me up with the antics they would get into.
3. Monica Martinez
Tabby had a great sass personality! And how many girls can't say they wish they could do to there ex's car what Jess did to hers. Amazing choice of ladies !!! Great job!

Love this list and I'm ashamed to say I haven't read a lot of these, but that just means more to add to my ever-growing TBR list!
5. Sandra priest
My absolute favourite is From Rags by Susanne Wright but I like a lot of the different genres this author writes. I don't want plain, or nerdy female leads who worship the hot alpha I like gorgeous and feisty! I know it makes me shallow.
6. Antara Rahman
I actually love all this characters. And books with a strong female lead. One of my favorite is Jaxx from From Rags. But number one is always Eve from In Death series. In death is not totally Romance but Eve is my most favorite female lead so far.
