Hot Male Librarians?

Henry Cavill in ALA READ PosterYesterday, Jackie Lester's post on Hot Librarians focused on three female librarians. But what about, one H&H community member asked, about hot male librarians?

Victoria Dahl—one of the authors mentioned in that first post—said she was working on a book with a male librarian, while Heidi Cullinan said she's got an upcoming book with one as well.

They're a rare species, but they do exist—what other male librarians in romance can you think of?

This is wrong in so many ways, but the only male librarian who comes to mind is the Librarian of Unseen University in Terry Pratchett's Discworld books. Not exactly hot, but certainly the most interesting librarian I know of in literature.

Oh, and thanks for the poster! I've always loved the "Read" series. I think my favorite was Sting in his 19th C. garb from the movie The Bride.

While not a romance, Isaac Vainio from Jim Hines' Libriomancer comes to mind. He's not even hot, more average, by description. But when I think male and librarian, he is the first to come to mind.

Hmmm.... tough cookie.

There is a sizzling hot shortie by Tiffany Reisz- "Seven Day Loan". It's part of her Sinners universe, and story was really, really sexy.
Another one that comes to mind is By the Book by Scarlett Parrish. Reece Hutton is a librararian with perchant for kinky sex. His gf decided to give him ultimate b-day gift in a form of threesome with incredibly sexy novelist, Daniel Cross. Two guys have amazing, mindblowing chemistry together and I never relly saw it as a menage, since you see from the beginning it's about Daniel and Reece. Also, I have to say that Daniel totally steals the show since he's jfc-hot, but I realized there is not nearly enough male librarians in the genre, and I'll pull every one I can think of.

LegeArtis already mentioned the Reisz story - which was part of the now defunct Spice Briefs line from Harlequin (sigh, I liked that line).

Two others I know about - but haven't read personally - are Emotion In Motion by Lynne Connolly (hero was a librarian, now a shapeshifter and secret agent - because ain't that always the way?) and Made for Each Other by Morgan Ashbury (hero is a librarian, heroine works in construction? I think?).

@Wendy - hero is a librarian and heroine works in construction?! Now ,that seems interesting.

While not technically a full-time librarian, Robin York's West in DEEPER works part-time in the university stacks. As a matter of fact, there's a great library stacks scene with the heroine, Caroline, and West. He also works as a baker, equally cool for a hero.

@JenniferProffitt Perfect! When I think male librarian, I think, Giles(king of librarians) Buffy, those were the good old days :-)

Barrons owns a bookstore, I know that is not technically the same, but it has always been a favorite aspect of him in my opinion.

I first read "Seven Day Loan" in an anthology when it was titled, "The Gift". Anything Tiffany Reitz writes is interesting, compelling, and somewhat unpredictable.

Oh, I agree! Love Giles!

Thanks for the ideas. I think I'll try both the Connolly and Ashbury titles.

How about Noah Wyle as The Librarian? Funny, silly movies, but he's a real cutie pie nonetheless. And with the new TV series coming soon, which includes Christian Kane in the cast, there'll be just another reason to check it out!

As a librarian who works with many a cute, charming, and sometimes downright sexy male librarians, I would love to start seeing more male librarian representation in romance (heck all) books. The only two male librarians I can think of is Giles and Noah Wyle's Librarian. (And that is a pretty good start.)
