Two years ago, Jake and Amanda were going hot and heavy. But when Jake wanted more, Amanda walked away. Jake immersed himself in mixed martial arts, living life on the edge. But that didn't dull the pain of Amanda's rejection-until a chance encounter throws them together.

A high-powered lawyer, Amanda was a no-strings-attached kind of girl. But two years after her breakup with Jake, she still hasn't found anyone who gets her heart pumping the way he did. And then he shows up in her boardroom, hot as sin and needing help...

But can he rule her heart?

Jake is darker, sexier, and impossible to resist. As their chemistry builds, Amanda's not sure if she can stay in control, or if she's finally willing to let him claim her body and soul.

Just as the title suggests, Sarah Castille's second Redemption book focuses on who Amanda has in her corner. There are some major issues Amanda has to work through in order to come out on top. Two years after we met them in Against the Ropes, Jake and Amanda are brought together when Jake needs help on a case. When we last saw them, it was definitely not under pleasant circumstances.

They have both been through some major changes and are different people. Jake is rougher around the edges, but has gained a company and big responsibilities. Amanda is working hard towards gaining partner at her firm. Work is her life 24 hours of the day. This has begun to take its toll on her.

“I’ve never been good at relationships,” I mumble. “ Sex has always been my marker as to whether a guy likes me or not. But relationships scare me. You let people get close, and invariably they let you down. I’ve been hurt so many times, I just can’t be that open or give myself to anyone that way. “

Amanda has never had anyone in her corner. She grew up basically raising herself, as her parents were always too busy to involve themselves in her life. Amanda doesn’t understand relationships and commitment makes her break out in hives. She thinks this pattern has followed her into adulthood. She doesn’t see the people right in front of her who are helping her and pushing her to be a better person.

Amanda has established a relationship with the fighters at Redemption outside of Jake, all of whom were introduced in Against the Ropes as well. This band of brothers always lends a helping hand to Amanda. Castille does a great job in illustrating how tight-knit the group is. They’re extremely protective of Amanda and adopt her as one of their own. Amanda doubts this connection, and every time Jake and her have a fight, she thinks the connection will break and to her astonishment it never does.

My favorite aspect is that the character development is on point. Each character is given life with vivid detail. Amanda’s self-doubt is presented from all angles. Her issues with relationships run full circle; her peers, boyfriends, friends all suffer for her insecurity. Sarah succeeds in detailing her struggle.

Years of neglect have caused her not to embrace others, she what she doesn’t realize is that she’s created her own family. The boys of Redemption, Maykayla, Penny, Shila and Ray round out her new family. Always there when she needs them, they always push her for the better. Under their “loving” taunts and peer pressure, she opens her own firm, trains hard at the gym to learn self-defense and as well to maybe even go into the cage, one day. Their camaraderie is amazing to read and their easy banter and humor makes the read easy.

And sort of happy. The fighters don’t seem to care that Jake and I have split up. They treat me the way they have always treated me. My hair is ruffled numerous times. My shoulder is slapped. I am poked and teased and included in every conversation.

Castille keeps you guessing; will hard-headed Amanda finally see what has been so obviously staring back at her? Will Jake be able to put the past behind them? Will each of the guys at Redemption get their own story?! Please say yes!
