Lisa Kleypas Announces Return to Historical Romance with New Series!

Love in the Afternoon by Lisa KleypasLisa Kleypas announced on her Faceboook page today that she will be writing a new historical romance series for Avon books, followed by new contemporary novels.

Kleypas rose to romance fame with historical novels, so in a sense will be returning to her roots (her last historical, Love in the Afternoon, was published in 2010). Most recently she has released the Friday Harbor contemporary romance series, and Book 1, Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor, was adapted for the screen as the Hallmark movie Christmas with Holly.

If you're wondering how this news will impact the next Travis family book, fear not: as far as we know, Joe Travis's novel, Brown-Eyed Girlis still on schedule (release date TBA).

For all things Kleypas (including exclusive excerpts, discussion posts, and guest posts) be sure to visit H&H's Lisa Kleypas Collection, and stay tuned for more news about her future releases as we get it!

I actually gasped in joy when I read that header. I never connected to her contemporary books but her historical books I love. They are probably my most reread books.

Oh, I'm so excited I was at my desk at work when I read it and I had this silent explosion of thrill.. and clapped my hands, thankfully no one spotted my eyes bugging out.. !! such a nerd

Her books are some of my absolute favorites! My favorite historical series is her Wallflowers!
Fell in love with her contemporaires first, but then got turned on to her historicals and love them as much! Love, love, love the Hathaways series of books! Favorite of all historicals is A Wallflower Christmas. I re-read it all the time! Loved that series with Evangeline, Annabelle, Daisy and Lillian. So glad someone pointed this author out to me!

This is the best news I have heard. I don't think there are too many romance historical novelists who could compare to Lisa. I have read all of her older novels. I have not read any of her modern novels. No one can write a historical romance novel like her!

Hi CutMyTeethOnKleypas,

Do you know if Kisa Kleypas' final book in the contemporary 'Friday Harbour' series will be released - Lightning Bay. It's slated for September 2014. But there is still no cover released and its already been pushed back several times and I am dying for it. There is never any mention of it on her FB page and I can't seem to find any info about it thats up to date.

@J-me - All signs I've searched for point towards early Sept 2014 for a Lightning Bay release. But you're right, Kleypas info is just so tough to find. She's like the unicorn of Historical romances... just magical and brilliant.

My main library vendor, Baker & Taylor, is listing Lightning Bay as having been canceled. :(
