H&H Quickies #3: Kristina Mathews—Prompt Me!

Thanks for all the awesome prompts. Check back at H&H on April 29 for an original scene from Kristina Mathews based on two or more of these prompts!

Better Than Perfect by Kristina MathewsIf you can never get enough of your favorite authors (and who can?!?), you are going to love H&H's author writing challenge, H&H Quickies. Not only will you get to read fun, original scenes by awesome romance authors, but said awesome romance authors will be writing those scenes based on YOUR prompts!

Following up on Manda Collins' fantastic H&H Quickies debut, and Lora Leigh's exciting call for prompts, we are pleased to announce today that Kristina Mathews will be the third author to participate in the H&H Quickies challenge! Here are the details:

The idea

For the next week, H&H readers are invited to leave comments on this post with writing prompts/ideas for Kristina Mathews with a contemporary theme. Once the prompting period is over next week, Kristina will read over all of the prompts and pick at least two that she finds inspiring, and use them to write a short original scene. H&H will then post the scene for everyone to read and enjoy (yay!), as well as reveal which prompts Kristina used for the scene (woo-hoo!) for bragging rights.

The rules

Prompting is open from right now until Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at noon EST.

Prompts can be anything, like a word (chocolate), a setting (a crowded bar), a situation (waiting for a friend), a description (sassy heroine)...the sky's the limit! Just one requirement, to keep things interesting: the prompts for this particular challenge should be contemporary-themed.

After you leave some prompts, that's it, your job is done for now! Just be sure to check back on April 29 for an original scene from Kristina Mathews based on your suggestions!

I'd like a recovering alcoholic heroine, a lost Teddy bear, and a Memorial Day picnic. Just off the top of my head!

An injured athlete returns to hometown to meet:
High School Sweetheart
Single mom next door
Town Librarian

Additional ideas:
An old jersey
A cozy chat in front of a fireplace that turns into more
A renegade animal (preferably a cat) that brings the h/h together...maybe hero rescues animal when it runs away?
3. Kareni
A chess champion
A professional poker player
A bet
Chocolate (of course!)
A VW bug
4. lauralee1912
an old-timey baseball game setting
a heroine hoping for a second chance

How about:

-A random meeting that doesn't make for a good firsst encounter.

-Public declaration of dislike/like.

-Conquering a fear publicly.

How about a hero who is accidentally naked in public, and how he reacts to the situation? I'm also all in for the librarian heroine suggestion.

Minor league hockey player falls in love with daughter of host family he lives with. She is geeky bookworm with heart of gold who volunteers with old folks' home. He then gets called up to next level but doesn't want to leave her.

@Sharks with Lasers: Go Team Librarian!

Upon further thought I always wouldn't hate to see:

Athlete needing to reform his rep falling for the town bad girl
A lost ball found
A broken down car on the side of the road
Move over damsel: a DUDE in distress
A public display of affection
Shark with Lasers
10. Krissy Daniels
chai tea latte, rottweiler, red platform shoes
Shark with Lasers
11. EChan
I'm gunning for a real good kiss! And maybe a pair of shoes you can't resist.

Immaculate hero with reputation for being perpetually well groomed; nothing ever out of place; in total control who intimidates others becoming very mussed up and being made to lose control by challenging, teasing, laid back , casually dressed heroine who is the only one who laughs at him and isn't intimidated by him.

Heroine's bicycle with basket on the front containing a paint brush and a tin of red paint.

Hot dogs with mustard.

Crossing the road.
