H&H Quickies #1: Manda Collins—Prompt Me!

Thanks for all the awesome prompts. Check back at H&H on February 14 for an original scene from Manda Collins based on two or more of these prompts!

Why Earls Fall in Love by Manda CollinsIf you can never get enough of your favorite authors (and who can?!?), you are going to love H&H's new author writing challenge, H&H Quickies. Not only will you get to read fun, original scenes by awesome romance authors, but said awesome romance authors will be writing those scenes based on YOUR prompts!

And today it's our pleasure to announce that Manda Collins, whose Why Earls Fall in Love is out today, will be the first to take up the H&H Quickies challenge! Here's the deal:

The idea

For the next week, H&H readers are invited to leave comments on this post with Regency-themed writing prompts/ideas for Manda Collins. Once the prompting period is over next week, Manda will read over all of the prompts and pick at least two that she finds inspiring, and use them to write a short original scene. H&H will then post the scene for everyone to read and enjoy (yay!), as well as reveal which prompts Manda used for the scene (woo-hoo!) for bragging rights.

The rules

Prompting is open from right now until Monday, February 3, 2014, at noon EST.

Prompts can be anything, like a word (carriage), a setting (midnight in a packed ballroom), a situation (meet-cute), a description (blue-collar hero)...the sky's the limit! Just one requirement, to keep things interesting: the prompts for this particular challenge should be Regency-themed.

After you leave some prompts, that's it, your job is done for now! Just be sure to check back on February 14 for a Valentine's Day treat—an original scene from Manda based on your suggestions!

I like the idea of a blue-collar hero, at least in Regency terms--iow, not a titled guy, but someone who actually has to work for a living.

I'd also add the Frost Fair, because I think that was the coolest (!) thing.
