Mila and Channing in Jupiter Ascending

Two very pretty people—Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum—join forces to balance the cosmos in Jupiter Ascending, a new movie by the creators of The Matrix trilogy. Here's the blurb:

Jupiter Jones (Kunis) was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people's houses and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.

Plus there's Sean Bean! What could possibly go wrong in this world? Jupiter Ascending will be in theaters in July 2014.

My first thought upon seeing the trailer? Starting a pool to see how far Bean makes it before he dies. Second thought? Isn't that title a little on the nose? I mean her name is Jupiter, she is being lifted into the sky, she looks at Jupiter?

The title and all seems WAY too direct, but the trailer is a hodgepodge. It is pretty, though. And I do love Sean Bean, of course, even tho he probably dies in the first ten minutes of the film. Poor Sean.

I'm going to go with 45 minutes from the initial appearance of Sean until his death. Also, until I saw this synopsis, I didn't know her name was Jupiter. WAY too on the nose. I originally thought she maybe was going to Jupiter or...something. But hey, what do I know.

You guys are my favorite people, you know that? :)

I think Jenn's probably close. I'll give poor Sean 30 minutes.

It's all very pretty but I agree about the title. Also, Jupiter is kind of a silly name. I'll give Sean a whole 55 minutes. I'm optimistic this morning.

I'll go see it. I agree that the trailer isn't all that exciting, but I loved The Matrix (the original, the other two I try to forget.) I love science fiction. So I'm willing to give it a try.
