ABC's Spring 2014 New Shows

Mixology – (DRAMA) — A cast of hot young things including Once Upon a Time’s Sarah Bolger, The Following’s Adam Canto, and Glee’s Vanessa Lengies, are all searching for love at the same Manhattan singles bar—on the same night! Yup, a full season with all episodes of this sitcom taking place over the course of one night. I hope someone ordered extra booze.

Tricia Helfer, Michael Trucco, et al in Killer Women cast photoKiller Women – (DRAMA) — Hot cowboys and badass babes abound in this action-procedural starring Battlestar Galactica’s Tricia Helfer as beauty queen-turned-first-female-Texas Ranger Molly Parker. The show, produced by Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara, is adapted from a popular Argentinian series Mueres Asesinas (based on a book series by Marisa Grinstein). Additional eye candy costars are Buffy’s Marc Blucas as her lover and Michael Trucco (BSG reunion!) as her brother.
Ship watch: Molly/Dan; Billy/Nessa

Mind Games – (DRAMA) — Christian Slater and Steve Zahn play crime-solving brothers in this brainy new drama from Kyle Killen (Lone Star, Awake). A bipolar psych genius and a smooth criminal (ok, ex-con), they solve crimes by relying on human motivation and manipulation. Think Supernatural meets Leverage.

Resurrection – (DRAMA) — In the small town of Arcadia, the dead come back. Not as ghosts or zombies or vampires, but just as people, looking like you just saw them yesterday. Creepy? Touching? A little bit of both? Kurtwood Smith (That 70s Show), Samaire Armstrong (The Mentalist) and Omar Epps (House) star.

Hi! Hate to be the cranky-geek, but Isiah Washington didn't star on The Wire. Isaiah Washington starred in Grey's Anatomy. ISIAH WHITLOCK starred on The Wire.

@BrooklynShoeBabe Ooh thank you! That was my error because I had just written the blurb for Isaiah WASHINGTON's show too (He's on The CW's The 100) and I think my brain was stuck on repeat !!

I'm so excited for this crop. ABC is my favorite broadcast network and I inevitably end up watching a bunch of their shows (but, like, nothing on CBS). The trailers for SHIELD, Wonderland, and Killer Women all look really great and I'm thrilled by how much ROMANCE/Romance potential will be coming our way!

Though I like OUAT a fair amount (esp. Snow/Charming), I'm surprised at how impressive the Wonderland trailer is. I actually keep thinking about it. Looks intriguing. I imagine they'll introduce Alice and Cyrus (the genie!) on OUAT in the fall, before the show goes on hiatus and then we get Wonderland.

Also, Tricia Helfer and Marc Blucas are going to be a good couple I think. They look great together and I love their buddycopping vibe already.

And you know... FITZSIMMONS! Hee.

S.H.I.E.L.D. I need it in my life now.

Gotta check out the Rebel Wilson show (even though people seemed surprised it got picked up, but maybe it'll improve after the pilot) and the Bradley Whitford comedy (love B.W. Josh!).

Lucky 7 on the other hand...I don't get it? Not sure what it's going for. Seems kind of boring to me.

@JenniferProfitt RIGHT? Everyone on twitter was saying the same, it looks way better than OUAT. Heh.

@redline_ The script for Super Fun Night was pretty bad. The thing is, no one will care. ABC is smart to get in the Rebel Wilson game.
Lucky 7 makes me remember Windfall--a short series with OUAT's Regina actually (and my childhood crush Jason Gedrick. Iron Eagle forever, yo.)
