Anna Karenina Trailer; Film Opens in Limited Release November 16!

No spoilers, but this does not have a happy ending.

Still, the trailer looks lovely, and Leo Tolstoy's Anna Karenina is a classic in the doomed romance genre. The film opens in limited release on Friday, and stars Keira Knightley, and Jude Law, and is directed by Joe Wright, who also directed Knightley in Pride and Prejudice and Atonement.

Yep. I already know it will be a total weepfest, but the spectacle of it looks wonderful. When I'm done I'll go home and read Lord of Scoundrels or something like that to cleanse my palate.

I'm sure it will be a cinematically beautiful movie, but the book premise just makes me so depressed. But then I was in a funk for a week after the first viewing of Moulin Rouge, so I'm not very tough when it comes to sad movies!

Ha, I was positive Jude Law would play Vronsky... I think Count Aleksei, Anna's husband, is twenty years her senior.
When I was in law school we had a mock trial based on this story (divorce, proof of infedility, her right to remary- it has great legal points). I was defending her, so I have a sentimental reason to watch it, too.
