What’s the Longest Time You’ve Gone Without Buying a Book?

The ease of book purchasing, not to mention the lowered prices on e-books, means that the chances of buying books are vastly increased compared to five years ago, for example.

Given that ease, what’s the longest time you’ve gone without buying a book? A month? A week? A day?

How long did your longest book-buying drought last?

I admit I'm easily taken in by those .99 price tags so many e-books are sporting these days, but I actually will go through long spells without making any big purchases. Love me the library! My hold lists, for both print and digital, are insanely long. And it's such a surprise what you'll get next.

It's usually an accident when I go for a while without buying books--like, I'm not actively trying not to, but I just happen to be working my way through a few books in my TBR pile or something. When I actively try not to I feel like I always cave in after a few days. I need to follow @ACarroll's example and go to the library more!

When my kids were younger and I was working two jobs because money was tight, I rarely bought a book. I think years would go by....but I went to the library and when I was asked what I wanted for a gift, I always asked for a book.

Now I tend to spend about two nights a money purchasing ebooks. I have my list of new releases and go through those and pre-order, as well as any recommendations I have picked up on the blogs. Sometimes there is an impulse buy; on a business trip, finished what I had available and want something more. I have also opened up to the smaller publishers and new authors as I am willing to spend $0.99 or $2.99 on a new-to-me author. If I don't like the book, I don't feel bad about not finishing.

Pre e-book - I bought once a month and sometimes skipped a month ( large bags of books/high checkout receipts were common then)

Now - with e-books if I go a day or 2 that is a long time for me (either I'm out of wi-fi area such as visiting my father or I'm sick)
