It’s Raining Men...Hallelujah!: Best M/M Erotic Reads For April

In need of some sexy reading material to fill your e-reader? I’m here for you. Each month I will bring you an assortment of erotic pleasure reads to tempt your palate—and your credit card....

Hot (very hot!) on the heels of J.R. Ward announcing the next book in her Black Dagger Brotherhood series will focus on the m/m romance between Qhuinn and Blaylock, we’ve got additional m/m suggestions for some erotic smutty goodness for your e-reader.

Ava March writes some of the steamiest, emotionally vested m/m erotic romances I have ever read. Set in the Regency era, she realistically shows taboo m/m romances trying to flourish amongst society’s prejudices. She has started a new series called the Brook Street Trilogy. I recently read Fortune Hunter, and as usual, was completely engrossed in Ms. March’s world.

Fortune Hunter (# 2 Brook Street Trilogy) By Ava March

London, 1822
Impoverished Julian Parker returns to London with one goal: marry an heiress. He’ll do whatever it takes, even if it means denying his desire for men. After all, with a fortune comes happiness and social acceptance—which have eluded Julian his entire life.

The only things a vast fortune has brought Oscar Woodhaven are greedy relatives and loneliness. At twenty-one years of age, he has everything a man could possibly want—except someone to love him. When he meets devastatingly handsome Julian Parker, he believes his luck has turned.

Between Oscar’s lavish gifts and their searing hot nights, Julian is caught between what he thinks he needs and what his heart truly desires. But when a betrayal threatens to tear them apart, Julian discovers he’ll do whatever it takes to convince Oscar the greatest fortune of all is love.

I’ll be honest, the cover was the reason I initially bought this story. ZOMG! A m/m romantic contemporary that revolves around a co-dependent couple whose life style choices get them into a world of trouble. Sexy bed play and a variety of plots put this couple firmly in your heart as you watch them struggle towards their HEA.

Trevan Bean has a job that’s going from illegal to frightening, a boyfriend who may not be in his right mind, and a guardian angel who might actually be evil incarnate. Add to that the reappearance of his boyfriend’s estranged family, death threats, kidnapping, and the struggle of saving money to realize a dream, and Trevan has a lot on his plate. But Trevan is up to the challenge: he promised Landry a happily ever after, and Landry’s going to have it if it kills him!

It just might.

Landry Carter was a broken doll when they met two years ago, but has grown into a partner who can stand at Trevan’s side…most of the time. Now that Trevan’s life just got scary—and Landry just got himself kidnapped—Trevan has to hope Landry’s love stays strong through this newest challenge, because the happily ever after won’t happen if Trevan has to go it alone.

Fae Sutherland is a very multi talented author who’s m/m romances range from laugh-out-loud hilarious to panting and wondering if your e-reader will survive going into a cold shower with you.

The Gladiator’s Master by Fae Sutherland and Marguerite LabbeThe Gladiator’s Master by Fae Sutherland and Marguerite Labbe

This is a story that will leave you hot, bothered, and wanting more.

When Roman politician Caelius inherits a stable of gladiators, there is one who captures his attention above the whose eyes gleam with hate, pride and desire.

Forced into slavery by Roman greed, Gaidres can barely conceal his contempt toward his new Dominus. Gaidres has a plan: kill Caelius and end the lineage of the Roman family that enslaved him. For his plan to succeed, he must make a show of respect and obedience—even when called on to service his master’s desires.

Gaidres is shocked to learn that in the confines of his quarters, Caelius doesn’t want to dominate his slave, but to be taken by him. The sex is explosive as they break society’s taboos and, to Gaidres’s dismay, they form a tenuous relationship. Even when Caelius learns of Gaidres’s plans for revenge, he knows he can’t live without his perfect lover. Is he willing to risk it all to tame his gladiator’s heart?

Gambling on Maybe by Fae SutherlandGambling On Maybe by Fae Sutherland

This is one of Fae Sutherland’s laugh-out-loud short stories that introduces us to flaming diva Zach West and firmly in the closet police officer Stephan Miranda. A short but cute story that, lucky for us, has a sequel already published.

When Phoenix police officer Stephen Miranda offers tipsy Zachary West a ride home one Friday night, he’s just doing his job. He doesn’t expect to unleash a glittery whirlwind on his orderly, very homogenized life. From minute one, Zach is like nothing Stephen’s ever known and like everything he’s secretly craved.

Zach doesn’t hide who he is for anyone’s comfort, even his own, but for a chance at a man like Stephen, he’d be willing to be an “undercover lover.” But while Stephen lusts after the vibrant man, hooking up with a guy who’s never used his “closet” for anything but fashion isn’t going to do his straight-acting routine any favors.

The sex is sizzling, no doubt, but Stephen wonders if there’s more to his relationship with Zach that’s worth gambling on.

Regularly Scheduled Life by K.A. MitchellK.A. Mitchell has become one of my favorite m/m authors to go to when I need a healthy dose of angst blended with my steamy romance.

Regularly Scheduled Life (#1 Ohio Books) by K.A. Mitchell

It’s a long way back to happily ever after. Sean and Kyle have enjoyed six perfect years of what their friends called a “disgustingly happy” relationship. But what happens one sunny Tuesday morning in October might be more than even the most loving couple can survive. When the bell rings that morning in chemistry teacher Sean Farnham’s first-period class, a terrifying sound fills the halls—gunshots. Without considering the consequences, Sean runs to tackle the shooter, sustaining a bullet wound to his leg. Despite his actions, he is unable to save the lives of the principal and two students.

Architect Kyle DeRusso hears about the shooting on the radio, and in the flash of an instant finds his life irrevocably altered. Everything-especially his heart-hangs suspended in a nightmare until he finds out Sean is alive. It doesn’t matter that Sean will be left with a permanent limp. Kyle’s just relieved the worst is over. Or is it?

Putting that day behind them isn’t as simple as it sounds. As Sean struggles to make something positive out of the tragedy, Kyle fights to save their relationship from the dangers of publicity—and Sean’s unwillingness to face how the crisis has changed him.

Warning: This book contains adults doing adult things, like using adult language and having hot m/m sex in various positions and on various furnishings. It might also cause the more tender-hearted adult to reach for a tissue or two.

Closer by Ally BlueAlly Blue’s Bay City Paranormal Investigator series remains a favorite of mine as it not only follows a wonderful m/m relationship from the very beginning but also combines finely crafted and creepy paranormal plots that grab you from the get go. There are currently 7.5 books in the series. I recently read Closer (#4) which brings to light the after effects of the horror our two heroes dealt with in What Hides Inside (#2). These are not standalones even though they do have a viable and resolved main conflict. Each book picks up right where the last one left off and you lose character and arc development not reading in order.

Closer (Bay City Paranormal Investigators #4) by Ally Blue

After nine months of tumult, Sam Raintree is ready for some peace and quiet. A beach vacation with his boss and lover, Dr. Bo Broussard, promises to provide the serenity and reconnection they both need. Bo’s business and his children command a good deal of his time, and Sam is looking forward to two weeks of his lover’s undivided attention.

Then a new case for the Bay City Paranormal Investigations team puts a crimp in Sam’s plans. Fort Medina, a seventeenth-century citadel guarding the mouth of Mobile Bay, is less than five miles from their vacation beach house. Bo invites the group to stay with them while investigating the place, promising Sam he won’t get involved. But Sam knows better. Sure enough, Bo can’t resist joining the investigation, and talks Sam into doing the same.

Events take an alarming turn as Bo’s behavior becomes more erratic each day. Puzzled and frightened, Sam scrambles for an explanation while the man he loves turns into a volatile and unpredictable stranger.

When the truth comes out, it may already be too late to save Bo from a force neither of them can control.

My rec for April is Scrap Metal by Harper Fox (wouldn't consider it necessarily erotic, but it is a m/m romance with sexy scenes). Really well done.

I have enjoyed Ava March's books for a while; the first Brook Street with Benjamin and Cavin was quite good.

Recently I found out about Mahu series from Neil Plakcy who became quickly one of my favorite. (mahu is Hawaiian derogatory term for homosexual). This series is mix of mistery and erotica ( favorite of mine). It's a story of Kimo Kanapa, homicide detective in Honolulu's police, who when we first meet him is just starting to accept that he's gay. Circumstances forced him to come out and his life takes a new turn. Kimo's personal journey is mixed with his investigationes through books and I can't recommed it enough.
I was trying to catch up with current releases so I just read Ty's Obsession, third in Whispering Pines Ranch series and it was great! Very, very hot sex scenes, little BDSM... ;)
Of april's releases I really liked A Hole in God's Pocket by K.Z.Snow. I'll only say we have one Amish boy and one ex- Catholic monk. :) Can you imagine that angst...?
I'm a big Ty/Zane fan and since new book is coming in May, my next book to read is (finally) Divide & Conquer. I was avoiding all the spoilers and reviews since I heard that ending will leave me frustrated.
Great post, Tori! Thank you for recs, so far you were never wrong.:)
