Remaking Battlestar Galactica?

Starbuck and Apollo vs. Starbuck and ApolloSome of us are big fans of Battlestar Galactica—but not necessarily the original series from the ’70s. Director Bryan Singer is purportedly moving on to direct a film version of Battlestar Galactica, but based on the original series (Lorne Greene?!?). Which means it isn’t the delicious interpretation some of us have rewatched—and watched for the first time—here at H&H.

So Starbuck and Apollo will be two men again, not the kick-ass Kara Thrace and Lee Adama. And their ensuing drama of love.

After you finish saying “WTF?,” who would you cast?

The 2003 version is clearly far superior, for Jamie Bamber and Katee Sackhoff alone. Starbuck as a guy again? No, thanks; it'll be like the BSG universe is devolving.

That said, this movie should be vastly entertaining for its AWFULNESS. I really hope Dirk Benedict gets a cameo so I can laugh and laugh (Katee does it WAY better, dude).

"And their ensuing drama of love." I don't know I can easily seeing it going the Mavrick/Iceman Top Gun route with Starbuck and Apollo.

I always thought that the origianl was more cheesy than anything else. The reason I enjoyed the Star Trek Relaunch is because they DIDN'T go full Kirk and bizaare 70s on us. Sure there were some nods to the crazy, like Sulu's fencing, but they avoided the whoel tribble fiasco. Wasn't there like a little psychic boy that lead the fleet to modern day earth in that one. I thought they had to cloak a raptor so Apollo could make an away mission or something. I don't not excited about this. No one, not even Papa Cartwright, can replace Edward James Olmos as Adama.

I am sorry I am one of the few that was annoyed with the new BSG. I loved Dirk and I loved Starbuck... making him a female ruined it for me. Not that Jamie wasn't hot as Lee.

I grew up watching the original and yes it was cheesy but I still enjoyed it. I never had a desire to watch the newer version, but I did watch the prequel, Caprica which I really enjoyed, was mad when they cancelled it, and I'm still grieving over it. lol

Why not make Apollo/Lee Adama a girl (I'm for Michelle Rodriguez as Leila Adama)?
