Good-bye, Sookie: Charlaine Harris Announces Her Next Project

True Blood: Volume 1 by Alan Ball et. al.USA Today reported recently that Charlaine Harris, best-selling author of the Sookie Stackhouse series (on which HBO’s True Blood is based), has her next project lined up: a graphic novel trilogy called Cemetery Girl that will “combine fantasy and paranormal mystery to tell the story of a teenaged girl with amnesia who has grown up living alone in amid the gravestones.” Author Christopher Golden and illustrator Don Kramer will be collaborating on the series.

The premise sounds interesting enough, and YA is pretty hot right now, but will Sookie Stackhouse fans follow where Charlaine Harris leads?

As a former fan of the Sookie series, I have to say: Nope! :{
Graphic novel and YA? Totally not my thing. But I've grown tired of the Sookie Stackhouse series with the past few books, so I suppose with this new series we will definitely be parting ways.

I am guessing that Harris might be able to pull of the voice necessary for this, but I don't think I'll be on-board for it, either.

I've followed Ms. Harris from her mystery days to the UF series, but I don't think I'll follow into a YA graphic novel; just not my thing. I hope she comes out with another adult series soon.

Since you have written the final Sookie book, will this also be the final season of True Blood? I hope not. I haven't yet read the final book, but I intend to very soon. I keep putting it off because I don't want the "Sookie Saga" to end. I love all your books but I must admit this series has been my all time favorite...along with the True Blood series on HBO. Please, reconsider.....maybe take a vacation from the series but don't end it forever! No matter what you decide I will continue to be a huge Charlaine Harris fan.

Oh yeah, I do have to admit to not being a big graphic novel fan. I did not like the graphic novels by Sherylon Kenyon either. Sorry :( but I gave up comic books many years ago. It is only my opinion, but I have as much interest in graphic novels as I have in comic books. I know others will cringe at the comparison but that is how I feel. Good luck and I will read your other new novels, just not the graphic ones.
