First Official Hunger Games Teaser Trailer Premiere’s at MTV’s VMAs!

The first official teaser trailer for the highly anticipated film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’s The Hunger Games debuted last night at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), and reactions were, predictably, mixed. Some were satisfied with the brief clip that showed Jennifer Lawrence in action as Katniss Everdeen for the first time, while others voiced disappointment at just how short it was (and at how much of it was focused on District 12’s foliage).

Check it out for yourself:

Thoughts? Personally, I wasn’t expect all that much from a teaser trailer, so I thought it was pretty cool. But then, I confess I’m 100% Team Gale, so his voiceover alone won me over. J.L. looked pretty badass as Katniss too.

I also have to echo a tweet by YA author Sarah Dessen and say that it’s fantastic to see people so excited over a trailer from a movie based on a YA novel. Yay, books!

The teaser was good, but I think there should have been a little less walking in the woods and a little more action. Otherwise, like you mentioned, it's great that they advertised a movie based on a book.

@BrittanyMelson -- Yeah, but in all fairness to the studio, it's a teaser, so I think people were expecting a little too much. Sounds like the movie's still filming!

But can I just say again: Gaaaaale. Maybe Liam will sell me after all. *hopes*
