Fire in You (Wait for You #6)
Jennifer L. Armentrout / November 28, 2016 / $13.99 print, $3.99 digital

Fire in You is the sixth book in the Wait for You series. This series is New Adult at its best, J. Lynn perfectly demonstrates the spirit of the genre. These are characters going through experiences that mold them into better people. All of her characters are relatable in that they have real issues and there’s real changes within them. The drama, angst and love is palpable and you’ll have no choice but to experience the ultimate feels. Fire in You is no exception.

It reads as the final book in the series but, of course I’m always hoping for more. Fire in You is both a friends-to-lovers story and a hate-to-love which means prepare for the angst! Illustrating the story of Brock and Jillian, it’s also a feel- good second chance tale. Basically you’re covered in every romance angle. The story isn’t bogged down by these categories though, it perfectly captures young love that matures and blossoms into a partnership.

Brock and Jillian have a wretched history. Brock was an immature boy that I really wanted to shake sometimes when we learned about their history. But, this Peter Pan grew up into a wonderful man that dominated the MMA world and is ready to move on hopefully, with Jillian. Jillian grew up with Brock and always had a hidden crush on Brock, or so she thought. The night she was finally going to put herself out there was a night that ended in tragedy and completely changed the trajectory of their relationship.

Then there were people who didn’t realize they had that fire, that it lay kindled inside them, needing to be stoked into flame. I never would’ve believed that I had that fire, but I did, and sometimes it would flicker and fade and other times it would rage and burn.

But it would never be extinguished.

Never.

The story follows Jillian and Brock years later and I loved how it focused on the future while still giving glimpses of the past. I devoured this book and couldn’t get enough of Jillian’s evolution into a confident, young woman. She was relatable in every way; hilarious, witty and had a love for books and food that rivaled her love for Brock. When Jillian is forced into close quarters with Brock, she must come face to face with her neglected feelings. Did she really stop loving Brock or was it just buried deep within?

There’s also lots of familiar faces and there’s updates on the status of other characters. Fire in You is years later from the first book and you can see how far these characters have come. I loved catching up with some of favorites and learning of new developments in their lives. There’s a feeling of family in the friendships that have developed within the pages and it’s further explored with Jillian and Brock.

Jillian and Brock will take you on a journey of new beginnings and will remind you that it’s never too late. Their chemistry sets the pages on fire and much like the previous books it will envelop you in a story you won’t forget.
