“Nothing Lasts Forever”: The Avengers: Age of Ultron Trailer

The Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer is out, and things don't seem to be going well for our favorite superpowered crew. Here's the official synopsis:

When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.

Avengers: Age of Ultron will be in theaters May 1, 2015.

First impressions? Looks really dark and intense, huh? Exciting!

Except...are we the only ones disappointed there wasn't more Black Widow/Hawkeye? (Think we spotted them together in only one quick shot, which is a shame because we have hopes and dreams for that relationship in Avengers 2...)

I'm already shipping Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch! They just look so pretty together!

Bah, and I've just been informed they're twins....WHY!?!?!? Well, I'll just mentally cast Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson in something else. Why does @redline_ ruin everything...would I do that to you!?

@JenniferProffitt -- Best thing to happen to me all day. Thank you, Jenn!!!!

Also, I just have to say I'm hoping I misread that little moment between Hulk and Black Widow. I don't want them to be an item!

@redline_ despite your mocking of my accidentally incest shipping...I don't think you misread that moment between Black Widow and Hulk...but I'm hoping it's more like a "taming of the animal" thing...but in PNR, a lot of times the "beast" side of the hero can only be tamed by his mate... just saying.

Ahem. Twincest. Mocking your Twincest shipping.

Well, the hulk does need his Becky... And if that is Tony in the Hulk Buster, I'm guessing everyone is going to be pretty peeved at him for building Ultron. My guess from that shot in the Quinjet is that Ultron does something that severly damages Banner's Calm. Which is not unheard of for Hulk to be let off the chain due to outsiders interferring.

...Who is Becky? Is Betty Ross never going to be mentioned in the MCU again? I just have zero interest in a Natasha/Bruce pairing. *whine*

Ultron, destroy Banner's calm? Noooooo.

Spader's voice... so villainy. :D

@JenniferProffitt- we will never let this go. :))))

No, it's Betty.

You're right. I was to concerned with shooting the zinger at Jenn. I doubt Betty will be back anytime soon. That would also clear the way for Hulk to find love in Planet Hulk without all the creepy infidelity. Should they decide to go that route.

Something clearly happens to piss Hulk off. Normally, Hulk is just the angry drunk version of Banner. Unless he gets pumped full of adrenaline which has happened a few times when people try to weaponize the Hulk. Bruce is looking very sad and scared, so I'm guessing something caused him to have a particularly bad, non-Loki smashing, episode.

Really want to know if that is Ultron in the Hulk Buster though. I can't tell if that is normal Iron Man lighting or if it matches the Ultron-bots lighting.

The Claw? Cap's shield is broken so that means more Vibranium. And Vibranium means two things. Claw. And Black Panther. Fingers crossed for Elba as T'Challa 2016!

YEsssss...! Black Panther is in my top 3 heroes I want to see on screen.
And Idris is perfect; superhero material through and through:

@LegeArtis, I thought we were friends! But I guess this just solidifies that since only friends would actually haze someone and never let them forget thata for a mere moment I ACCIDENTALLY shipped siblings! Ac-ci-dentally!

@LegeArtis @cmorgan -- Well, we didn't get Idris Elba, but the new Black Panther looks super hot, so I have no complaints there. Let's see how his performance works out! Marvel's steered us right so far.

It would be really daring if they actually went with the incestuous relationship between Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in the movies. Having them keep that secret and being so close would really effectively highten the drama. It would also force the audience to face the question of "forbidden love" in a modern version.

Before in history it was love between persons from different social classes, interracial love, then gay love... now incestuous love is basically the only really forbidden love left for drama.

And also, it would probably make the audience feel conflicted. Having a sibling pair help to save the world, putting their lives on the line.... and then we reject them and are disgusted by them because they deeply love each other? Or could we find it in our heart to accept their love?

Anyway, would have been interesting. But of course they won't go that route in the safe PG-13 superhero universe. But... as mentioned, would have been pretty ballsy to do so.
