All the Way: The 5 Steps to a New Adult Sex Scene

Misunderstandings by Tiffany KingToday we're joined by author Tiffany King, whose Misunderstandings is out this week. It's a New Adult book, and it has the hero and heroine—who have a shared past—running into one another unexpectedly in an elevator. One things lead to another (as they go up and down?), and the two have to figure out if they can get over their previous misunderstandings. Tiffany is here to walk us through the five steps of a New Adult Sex scene. Thanks, Tiffany!

Writing a new adult sex scene is like cooking a gourmet dish. Okay, maybe the analogy is a bit of a stretch, but stay with me. What I mean is everyone has different tastes. Some people like bold, curl your toes, give it to me baby while listening to “Let's Get It On” by Marvin Gaye flavors. Other people prefer a subtle slow building, Boyz II Men, “I'll Make Love to You” tease the senses flavor profile. As long as it's sinfully delicious and achieves the anticipated level of satisfaction (wink-wink), either way works. I'm more of a slow savor the anticipation of the deed type of girl. I like to appreciate the romance of each step, letting the sensations multiply exponentially until there is nothing left to do but tear each other's clothes off. Oh my! I'm starting to sweat a little, and definitely getting ahead of myself. Allow me to backtrack slightly while you step into my kitchen and I explain my five steps to a hot new adult sex scene.

Step 1: As I stated above, I'm a girl that loves romance. Call me old fashioned, but there is nothing better for initiating a spark than the handholding moment. If you are skipping this step, you don't know what you are missing. The nerves in our hands have a direct link to our brain. What does that mean? Hands are sensual. The next time you’re ready to start cooking (cough-cough), have your special someone trace the lines of your palm with their fingers and try not to get an instant mental picture of that same hand exploring other good areas. This is a great foreplay initiator for your sex scene. Trust me. Imagination is a powerful tool.

Step 2: This is my favorite step—the first kiss. Or for me, the anticipation of the first kiss, which means this image is not what I am looking for. I want you to kiss me, not eat my face. Ewwwww.

Not this one either. No. Yuck. Just no.

Jake and Samantha from Sixteen Candles. Now, this is what I'm talking about. Note the candle light, slow approach, heads tilted soft gentle first peck on the lips. It makes my toes curl and gives me that swoony fluttering butterflies feeling in my tummy.

Boom, pow, fireworks ignite the sky. That oven is getting preheated and it's time to show off your making out skills. Want to stoke the fire even more? Get those sensual sensitive hands involved again. There is nothing sexier than when your cooking partner cups your face with their hands and really takes control of the kiss.

If done right, your lips go numb, your knees grow weak and your mind becomes fuzzy.

Okay, I need a moment because as I said, I'm a romantic. I have to admit, I may have become practically hypnotized at times by my hubby's kisses. Maybe that is where my inspiration comes from. If you've been knocked off your feet before then you know the feeling I'm talking about.

Step 3: Now that things have heated up, it's time to take the flavor of your sex scene to the next level—petting. Not this kind of petting by the way.

This is better. I'm talking about giving a little attention to the other parts of the body that have become hyper aware of some impending fun. Now is the time for a little teasing, exploration—kneading, if you will. You can't just throw a few ingredients in a pan and expect it to turn into a cake. You have to do a little mixing. Finesse things along. Do a little tasting. Mixing-finessing-tasting oh my! Mixing-finessing-tasting oh my!

Hold on a second. I seem to have gotten ahead of myself again. We're not at the appreciation stage yet, but if I need to hammer you on the head to stress the importance of the petting step I will.

Step 4: The hum-diggidie step. The one that says, “Oh yeah, we're so doing this.” Things just got real. The clothes are coming off, leaving nothing to the imagination. The ingredients you've put together up to this point are at their peak of freshness if you get my drift.

Step 5: Can you guess the final step? Yep. Time to have your cake and eat it too. This step may be followed by appreciative hallelujahs and declarations of love, but because I am such a romantic at heart, will most certainly end with a little snuggling. How you end your sex scene is up to you.

Haha, I love this post! Your kissing gif reminds me of the SNL episode this past Saturday where Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield are trying to kiss in The Amazing Spiderman 2 and they say they don't know how to kiss and they try all these weird ways. It was pretty hilarious/cringeworthy.
