What Book-Related Tattoo Would You Get?

Paranormal romance and urban fantasy have long had characters who have gotten tattooed, not just for cosmetic purposes, but because their tattoos hold power. More recently, many New Adult and erotic romance characters have sported ink, in line with how many people in real life seem to be getting skin art.

If you were to get a book-related tattoo, what would it be? If you already have one, let us know in comments!

I like symbols better than words for a tattoo, so if I were going to get one I think I'd like a cat lying across an open book (story of my life!)

I've been thinking about getting a tattoo that just says "Once" like once upon a time (not the show)...otherwise I really like the idea of the Dewey Decimal number for the book section you like. I think it's just really unique and not super obvious.

Otherwise I recently saw someone who had a tatto of the O'Kane symbol on their back from the Kit Rocha Beyond series, and I thought it looked really cool.

Never considered getting one, especially a book related one, but if I did, I guess it might be a small Bronze Horseman. That book has become an all time favorite for me.

Speaking of tattos though, I do like the wedding ring tatto. As many men do not like to wear rings, whether it be job related danger, or just do not like jewelry (my husband), I love the wedding ring tatto. I had never heard of it until we saw it on Duck Dynasty and my husband loved the idea too & will be getting one. (BTW, we've been married 42 years and he wants one as a sort of renewal, which I think is wonderful).

Awww, @VolFan, that's so sweet! My dad never got a wedding ring to match my mom's because he has a few metal allergies. I can't ever see him getting a tattoo (he's now 85) but that's super sweet that your husband wants to do something after 42 years!

Okay, that Tumblr is awesome and makes me want to get a quote tattoo, though how I'd ever choose is beyond me. I adore these "half agony"/"half hope" wrist tattoos--fabulous.

My very first tattoo was the Good Luck Care Bear, then I got Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter symbol tattooed on my left wrist, followed by Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld butterfly symbol on my right wrist. My son and I got the young Simba symbol from Lion King with "Remember who you are". There are a few more I'm itching to get; the sun/lightning bolt symbol of Acheron (Dark Hunters), the Phoenix for Styxx (Dark Hunters), and I really want the ceremonial sword from the Black Dagger Brotherhood, I just can't remember which book it was that it was described in detail.

I got the New York Times logo "T" on my wrist the week after I hit the Times bestseller list. I have a reader who got a cowboy boot and my tagline "Let's Buck" tattooed on her shoulder. I got teary eyed when she showed me at a convention. And the bull rider I used to sponsor, as well as his sister, both got "Let's Buck" tattoos.

My very first tattoo, last year, is the Tree of Gondor from Lord of the Rings. It's a memorial tattoo for my grandparents and step dad who passed away. Underneath the tree roots, in Elvish script, are their names and dates they passed away.

I have plans to get the Dark Hunter symbol, and maybe the Sentella mark from Aherrilyn Kenyon. I'd also like to get another LotR tattoo.

I have 5 tattoos. Only one of them is from a book, so far. I have the molnija mark from Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. It is below my neck on my back. I got to show it to her when I last went to a signing in 2010. There were 2 other fans with the same tattoo there also. Unfortunately, I have yet to see the movie since our base theather here in Japan never got it and it'll be on DVD before we come back to the states.
I'm planning my next tattoo to be a mermaid from one of my tarot sets. I do want other book tats tho. Maybe one from the Demonica Series by Larissa Ione. My derby name was after Sin (Sin R Havoc :) ), and i have the caduceus symbol with the swords on my helmet.

I have a Breedmate Mark from Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series on my shoulder - it was my first ever tattoo & at the time I was one of the first fans to get one done. I would love to get more bookish tattoos, I was thinking perhaps an ankle bracelet that I could get symbols hanging from - like the Dark Hunter sign, a BDB sword etc. Something from each of my favourite series and I could get more added as I found new books I fall in love with. I'm also toying with the idea of getting a quote but haven't decided where to put it yet. I was thinking of "I solemnly swear I'm up to no good" from the Marauders Map in Harry Potter. I just think it's something fun & that's a series I will always love.

@booknook200 I have the Lords of the Underworld butterfly mark also! It is on my shoulder and between the wings I have the ever famous Shakespear quote from Hamlet " To Thine Own Self Be True". I also want something from the Dark Hunter series next. There are just so many to choose from. I also have a big piece on my back of
Alice's adventures in wonderland because it is my favorite story of all time. Wow.. looking at what I have I am a big nerd hahaha
