Alexander Skarsgard to Star in Tarzan

Alexander Skarsgard is set to trade in his True Blood fangs for a strategically-positioned loincloth, taking the titular role in the upcoming live action film, Tarzan. Joining Skarsgard are Margot Robbie, Samuel L. Jackson, and Christoph Waltz.

David Yates, who directed the last four Harry Potter movies, is set to direct, and Tarzan will be in theaters in summer 2016.

It's been a few generations since Tarzan was played by a real person as opposed to being a cartoon character, but the story of two people from very different worlds coming together to conquer an outside evil and find love in the process has been replicated in movies, TV, and books many times over.

Based on this initial casting, are you interested?

This probably goes without saying, but I am all for ASkars in a loincloth.

Tarzan of the Apes was one of my favorite books as a youngster, and my sons enjoyed it as well. I'll be interested in seeing if we finally get a Tarzan closer to E.R. Burroughs original. It will also be interesting to see how it's updated for a more culturally sensitive era.

Seeing ASkars in a loincloth is just extra fabulous icing on the literary cake.

I believe I've admitted it here before, but I have to say that when my son was little, we watched the Disney Tarzan and I felt like I was getting to watch a romance (in secret) with a not very clothed muscular guy hero. So that was fun.
I happen to LOVE Christoph Waltz, so I'm intrigued. I bet he's the baddie, which will be sad.

@MFrampton--If they stick to the original Tarzan of the Apes, he could be the Frenchman who teaches Tarzan the rudiments of civilization, including how to speak French!

I'm a fan of the Greystoke Tarzan movie, so this will be exciting to see what take they have on the Tarzan story. Half naked Skars, I'm there...and for giggles Sam Jackson because he's in everything. Combined with Waltz, this looks like a winner!

I will watch it just for Alexander! I have seen every version of Tarzan there is in every form and am a big fan of swinging from tree to tree in a loincloth while calling jungle friends and saving Jane. Don't care what twist they give to it, as long as they give us a good time!

Hmmm, might be hard to see him so fully clothed... especially after seeing him in all his Erikness in the picture above :) OHHH, alright!!! ... I wonder if it will be a funny version or a darker version??
