Keeping It Anything But Professional: Kresley Cole’s The Professional, Part 2

The Professional, Part 2 by Kresley ColeEven those of us at Heroes and Heartbreakers who aren’t a fan of serials found ourselves sucked into the Russian mafia romance in the first installement of Kresley Cole’s The Professional serial. Our roundtable read of the first segment had mixed results, but those who worried the book would be too much of “do whatever the hot Russian says” and not enough relationship will be very pleased with Part 2.

As expected, the second installment picks up immediately from the end of Part 1. And can I get a THANK YOU for that? We cut off right before things were about to get naked and sweaty in a sauna. (Psst! They do!) Natalie is still trying to hold out on the no sex thing after her father’s revelation that if she and the Siberian hook up it’s a permanent deal.

That means things get complicated. Aleksandr Sevastyan wants his Natalie. He wants her badly and completely. As the story progresses in this second part, he thinks it’s a done deal. Natalie is his, and sex and gifts should be enough.

They aren’t. (You weren’t surprised by that, right?) Natalie needs intimacy if this is going to be a real relationship. That means she needs to get Sevastyan to open up. Not an easy task. Even her father, who loves Sevastyan like a son, doesn't know the details.

Things only get worse when he realizes his actions could hurt Natalia physically. When he tries to put on the kid gloves, so to speak, Natalie’s reaction is one big ‘Oh, hell no!’

She pushes Sevastyan to be a true partner. He says he wants to keep her happy. That means being open and honest with her, sharing secrets and bringing all the kink to the bedroom. Will it work? We don't know entirely yet, but the way she baits him will have your heart racing.

The Professional: Part 2 ups the ante. Things get dirtier both on the sex and mob fronts. The relationship gets deeper. And, yes, the stopping post for the book is evil.

We can’t wait for Part 3 to release January 20th!

I love this book so far. The characters are wonderful. But whoever chose the stopping points of the story is an evil genius. Talk about sensual torture. You get all ready for the hot and heavy to begin and then you're left wanting and begging for more.

Thankfully, the ending comes in two weeks. Not sure I could have taken any more torture. :)

@Lucy D, we're left feeling VERY much like Natalie in all this. Lol.

@Lucy D and JenniferProffitt - Those endings are straight up evil. At least with Part 2 we knew it was going to be a wicked ending. As soon as they entered that room, I had to check how much was left on my Kindle. I knew I was going to have to wait for what was on the other side of that curtain.

Damn it. Two more weeks, though. Two weeks. We can do it. Together.

Haha, @Chelsea, that's too true. Let's start a Professional support group, I think it needs to happen. These next two weeks are going to be tough.
