Pompeii vs. 300: Rise of an Empire: Which is the Cheesiest?

The first three months of 2014 offer not one, but two, gloriously bombastic films set in ancient times. There's Pompeii, featuring Kit Harington (Game of Thrones's Jon Snow) battling the volcano, while 300: Rise of an Empire returns post-Thermopylae and showcases Eva Green (Casino Royale) in her power-hungry rise to defeat the Greeks.

There are very few shirts worn in either film.

Will you see both? Neither? One?

There is only one person I trust in a volcano situation, and that is Tom Hanks. Keanu and his Samurai Argonauts is looking better and better.

It's hard to say which one looks worst; I think if I had to choose on eyecandy appeal, it'd be Pompeii, because ABS. But in terms of overall enjoyment, I bet 300 will be better, even though that's a low threshold.

I can say, categorically, that no-one else in my family will be willing to watch either one.

I think I'll be more willing to see Pompeii (and also no one in my family/social circle will likely be willing to go see it with me as well). I didn't love the original 300, outside of how kick-ass Lena Headey was. And Abs...

Am I the only one that thinks Pompeii looks like a "man" version of Titanic. You've got the poor/ slave male and rich/untouchable princess in love then some sort of disaster; ship sinking/ volcano erupting. If I had to guess both movies will shake out the same way too.

Safe to say we will be seeing BOTH of these fine films the moment they are released. In IMAX. Can't wait.
