Recently, our 10 Regency Romances You Should Read sparked a conversation about what actually defines a Regency. The question would seem pretty straight forward but then you have authors like Jane Austen, whose Pride and Prejudice sparked many a modern Regency romance, but at the time of publication would have been contemporary women's fiction. Since then, there have been countless authors to follow in her footsteps, including Georgette Heyer, who is considered the mother of the “modern” Regency.
