Words of Lust

Serafina Luca, straitlaced Manhattan professor of erotic literature, isn't one to blush at a few raunchy words, but her experience in the bedroom is hardly bestseller material. She's not sure the passion in the books she teaches is possible in real life, let alone for her. But then she meets Nick Stellato.
The construction foreman may look like a guy's guy, but he knows how to treat a woman. One look at Serafina's luscious figure, and he wants to prove it to her. One dinner date and their sizzling chemistry is undeniable. Soon, it's the professor getting a lesson or two...and Nick is a willing teacher. What surprises him is how much he enjoys the time he spends with Serafina outside the bedroom—and how easily he can imagine a future together.
Before long, Serafina is falling hard for Nick, too. But how can a timid academic with virtually no past fulfill his dreams of an adventurous future?
A romance about a sexually inexperienced professor of erotic literature and a sexy extroverted blue-collar worker? Where do I sign up? Though the premise follows a predictable path, Lise Horton’s Words of Lust changes up the game with two delightful characters whose obvious dissimilarities only add to the overall appeal of their relationship. I enjoy watching characters whom you would never imagine together find that special connection and work hard at finding common ground.
Serafina Luca is a professor of Erotic Literature at Wharton College. Her class, Flesh and the Word, is one of the most popular classes on campus, exploring the innate sexuality in the human language using such classics from Henry Miller, Anais Nin, and D.H. Lawrence. Professor Luca compares and examines the differences between literary fiction and popular fiction.
“I teach literature that dares to delve into the one thing driving mankind more powerfully even than hunger. Lust. Love. Hunger rarely makes men take pen to paper and compose sonnets. But lust most assuredly does. ”
Only 24 years old, Serafina was a late-in-life baby to much older intellectual parents and lived a fairly secluded life until their deaths. While her courses are very sensual and erotically charged, her love life is anything but. When she is accosted walking past a construction site, she is saved by the construction foreman, Nick Stellato.
Nick, her gorgeous, sexy knight in shining armor, is instantly attracted to Serafina and begs for her phone number, offering to call her to update her on her assailant's punishment. One of eight children in a large Italian family, Nick is no stranger to getting what he wants. And he wants Serafina. When Nick finds out his sister, Gia, is in Professor Luca’s class, he pumps her for every little tidbit he can get.
“As a matter of fact, the lady I met yesterday is a professor at Wharton. Maybe you know her. Professor Serafina Luca?”
“Oh my God! Luscious Luca!”
“Watch your mouth, Gia!” his mom admonished.
“What did you call her?”
“That’s what the boys call her—all the jerks who sign up for her class just to hear her talk dirty.”
Nick invites Serafina to dinner and makes his move on the luscious Luca, sweeping her up into his vibrant personality and sexual nature. The differences between Nick and Serafina become more pronounced when Serafina meets Nick’s large extended family. Boisterous and rambunctious, the family already has expectations about Serafina and Nick, and those expectations frighten Serafina:
His mother had hugged her and insisted she come again, and Cara had followed suit. The intense family emotion had her feeling off-kilter and she was relieved to be escaping from it all. Clearly none of the Stellatos did anything in a small way and the afternoon was off the Richter chart overwhelming for her.
Yet, regardless of Serafina’s misgivings, the chemistry that sparks between her and Nick creates a silken tie that slowly begins to bind her to him. She wants to learn everything Nick knows and experience for herself the sensual pleasures that created some of the most beautiful and erotic literature that she teaches about.
The teacher becomes the student.
Kissing him had been earth-shattering. All she could think about was getting back in his arms as soon as humanly possible, hoping he wanted to do wicked things to her, preferably with his impressive cock. The feel of his body, the taste of his kiss, his strength. If she’d been the swooning type, she’d be swooning for all she was worth.
And Nick takes his job very seriously as he begins the slow, steady assault on her mind and body.
He stroked her breast and rubbed one finger around and around her nipple until she was panting shallowly. “I want to make you so hot, you’ll be wet for me all day. You’ll wake up wanting me inside you and my name will be the last thing you moan as you get yourself off before bedtime.”
Nick’s dominant persona both attracts and repels Serafina as she wars between her need to submit to Nick and her feminine outrage at wanting to submit to him. This is her very first serious relationship and she struggles to maintain her identity as she sinks deeper into her relationship with Nick.
Perhaps this was what it meant to be consumed by a man, as her heroines were. So that nothing else in life mattered except being in your lover’s arms and having him inside you. She’d never been so utterly overwhelmed by sensations and emotions and her much valued sense of self-control, her ordered life, seemed to have been replaced by a yearning physical hunger and increasingly impetuous actions.
As with any relationship, our couple grows and evolves as they learn the art of compromise in and out of the bedroom. Lisa Horton’s Words of Lust is a sensual erotic romance where humor and passion go hand in hand as words of lust becomes words of love.
