Outlander executive producer Ronald D. Moore, who is adapting Diana Gabaldon's time travel/epic romance book series for television, shared some tidbits about the show in an interview with Blastr at last weekend's San Diego Comic-Con.
Moore calls the show “an exciting piece” in the interview, and says he's very much looking forward to filming 16 episodes in Scotland this fall with a cast that will include Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser and the as-yet-unannounced actress who'll be playing Claire Randall). He also goes on to say that:
We're at pains to really follow the books. One of the great things was Starz said to us early on was, 'We love the books, we think they are great so let's make the [show] for the people who love the books. Let's make it for the fans of the books first and trust that anyone who doesn't know the material will get swept along in the story. ...
