Just Heating Up: June 2013’s Best Erotics

Glitterland by Alexis HallIn need of some sexy reading material to fill your e-reader? I’m here for you. Each month I will bring you an assortment of erotic pleasure reads to tempt your palate—and your credit card....

June’s blinding summer sun has nothing on the heat generated by the assorted erotic pleasures listed below.

Glitterland by Alexis Hall

The universe is a glitterball I hold in the palm of my hand.

Once the golden boy of the English literary scene, now a clinically depressed writer of pulp crime fiction, Ash Winters has given up on love, hope, happiness, and—most of all—himself. He lives his life between the cycles of his illness, haunted by the ghosts of other people’s expectations.

Then a chance encounter at a stag party throws him into the arms of Essex boy Darian Taylor, an aspiring model who lives in a world of hair gel, fake tans, and fashion shows. By his own admission, Darian isn’t the crispest lettuce in the fridge, but he cooks a mean cottage pie and makes Ash laugh, reminding him of what it’s like to step beyond the boundaries of anxiety.

But Ash has been living in his own shadow for so long that he can’t see past the glitter to the light. Can a man who doesn’t trust himself ever trust in happiness? And how can a man who doesn’t believe in happiness ever fight for his own?

Alexis Hall's Glitterland goes beyond the expected romance and examines the relationship between a reclusive writer and a young man whose joy of life attempts to chase away the shadows that surround the writer. Can our hero live and love again on his own terms? Or will he once again allow his illness to once again make him a prisoner of his own mind?

Blood Legacy by Vanessa RedmoonBlood Legacy by Vanessa Redmoon

The Vampyrs have seized control of what’s left of Earth. We humans live short and worthless lives fulfilling one of three roles, serving our Vampyr betters: Laborer, Administrative, or Donor. I chose a fourth role. A spy for the Resistance.

That’s how I wound up working for Victor Bressov, heir apparent to one of the oldest, most powerful Vampyr families. As his personal Administrative, I can feed the Resistance valuable information on the Vampyrs’ plans. But Victor–cold, calculating, cruel–has other roles in mind for me. It’s not just the taste of human blood that drives him. It’s spilling it. Through pain, through pleasure, though I’m having a hard time these days finding the difference between the two.

He says my pain can give us both unimaginable power. Power he can use to control the Republic, or that I can use to save humankind. When he ties me to his desk, whip trailing along the marble floor, I tell myself I’m enduring this for the Resistance. I’m doing it so one day, others can live freer than me.

Problem is, I’ve never felt so free.

How far will a young spy go to free her fellow humans from the ironclad rule of vampires in this dark erotic romance from Vanessa Redmoon? Especially when one sadist vampire uses his skills in pain and pleasure to leave her breathless and wanting more?

How do you move on when he’s every song you sing?

From there it’s a rocket ride straight to the top where Laurelyn finds the success she’s always dreamed of. Will it be enough to bring her the happiness she so deserves, or will the absence of Jack Henry leave her wanting more?

After he foolishly let her slip through his fingers, he spends three months searching for her, but their reunion doesn’t come easy. The woman he finds isn’t the same one who drifted away without a goodbye. No longer an insecure girl on an Australian adventure, this Laurelyn is a successful musician with a promising career. Her dreams are becoming a reality, and Jack is terrified his American girl won’t have a place for him in her new life. With only a month to convince her otherwise, will it be enough time to make her visualize a life beyond the glitz and glamour, a life that includes him?

Love and loss is the premise of book two in Georgia Cates’s Beauty series. When our heroine leaves her lover, she finds herself at loose ends both in her career and in her heart. Can she move on with her life and forget him? Or will her leaving be the catalyst that frees both of their hearts to a passion that will set the world on fire?

Tory-my favorite kink-reads pimp! :)
I wanted to read Glitterland since Rachel Haimowitz said it brought her to tears at the time she was editing it. Can't wait!

SO READY for Wicked Beat. Double Time has been taunting me from iBooks every time I open the program. I refuse to read it out of order! No spoilers! Why the publisher did this, I have no clue.

Great recommendations as always, Tori! You haven't lead me astray yet. I'm pretty behind on the Sinners series but I look forward to each of Olivia Cunning's releases every time!

I was excited to read Wicked Beat until I saw that it has an August release date. Since the title of this article was June 2013's Best Erotics, this was very misleading.

I would have preferred to be able to read the books immediately.

Smeech-Sorry for that. As I explained above, I read months in advance so I list what I read for the month and it's not always books available that month. I feel it helps readers who may not know certain books are releasing and gives them a heads up. I do try not to list to far in advance.
