Game of Thrones Star to Take Different Throne: Richard Madden Cast as Prince Charming

Richard Madden may struggle to reach the throne as Robb Stark in HBO's Game of Thrones, but soon he'll be taking another throne in the live-action adaptation of Disney's Cinderella. We think Madden will look the part—although if they follow the look of Disney's Prince Charming, we don't know how we'll feel about him without his signature scruff. Madden is cast opposite Downton Abbey's Lily James who will play the girl with the shoe fetish—Cinderella.

In the past Cinderella has been taken on in some memorable (if not always in a good way) adaptations. In 1997, Brandy Norwood, Whitney Houston, and Victor Garber (to name a few in this star-studded movie) starred in Rodger and Hammerstein's Cinderella and in 2004, a young Anne Hathaway and Hugh Dancy took on (in my opinion) the questionable Ella Enchanted.

Can you imagine Disney's Cinderella in live-action form? How do you feel about Richard Madden as Prince Charming—right on or 'what were they thinkin!'?

YES YES YES! I love him as Rob Stark and think he'll do just fine as a Prince Charming!

He is gorgeous and will do well in the role. I would miss the scruff, though. :)

Yeah I can roll with this (though I don't watch the show) but he definitely looks the part. :)

@mermaid: I have grown to like it but when I first saw it I had literally just finished re-reading the book in the parking lot of the movie theater before going in to see it and I was soooo disappointed by it! I cried all the way home.

@mermaid, sad as in you feel bad for me or sad as in pathetic? Lol. I'll take either because I know both might apply.

@JenniferProfitt - the way I read Cinderella, Prince Charming is the one with the footwear fetish.
@JenniferProfitt & mermaid - the Ella Enchanted book was magical. The movie was pedestrian.

My favorite take on Cinderella is "Ever After" starring Drew Barrymore and Dougray Scott. We'll see if this new one surpasses it. It certainly has a good cast, but we'll see how well the writers make use of them.
