A new cast member has been added to the Downton Abbey household and he'll be fulfilling a first for the show—the first recurring black character. Gary Carr has been tapped as a recurring jazz singer during Season 4.
Carr has been seen in other BBC shows like Death in Paradise and Bluestone 42. Carr joins fellow newbie cast members Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Tom Cullen (who is cast to be Lady Mary's possible love interest) Julian Ovenden, Nigel Harman, Joanna David and Dame Harriet Walter, who are all set to carry significant roles in season four.
In other news: DA executive producer Gareth Neame confirmed that Downton Abbey will be coming into your homes and not just through your TV. Soon there will be Downton Abbey clothing, furniture, beauty products and stationary.
