In many romance novels, one of the characters has to teach the hero or heroine some sort of skill—fighting with knives, for example, or how to dance a quadrille, or bake the best apple pie ever. Maybe it's the hero teaching the heroine, or vice versa, which brings them together as the lessons are ongoing.
