Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld Series Brought to Television

Bitten by Kelley ArmstrongFans of Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld series (not to mention fans of paranormal TV such as Lost Girl and True Blood) will be happy to know that the series is being made into a Canadian TV series. The series begins with Bitten, the story of the only female werewolf, and actor Laura Vendevoort (Smallville) has been cast as Elena Michaels. Additional casting will be announced within the coming months. From the press release about the series:

A foster child, Elena thought she finally found her “happily ever after” with her new love Clayton, but with one small bite, her life was changed forever and she was forced to survive life with the Pack as a werewolf. Years later, Elena has found refuge in Toronto, working as a photographer and dating a new man. But when bodies turn up in the backwoods of Stonehaven, the rural mansion that has served as a werewolf sanctuary for generations, the perfect life Elena has constructed begins to crumble. With the Pack threatened by an unknown predator, they turn to Elena for help. Caught between two worlds and two loves, Elena returns to Stonehaven out of duty, but once back in the fold she realizes that when push comes to shove, like any true alpha female, she’ll stop at nothing to defend her family.

No word yet on when the show will premiere, and where besides Canada it will be available.

Wow. I don't know if I can wrap my head around Smallville's Supergirl playing Elena. Huh. Not what I'd expect at all based on the character. Hmmf.

Wow. Well, I'll wait until they cast Clay and Jeremy...

Well I'll definitely have to try this out, but I'm not so sure about the casting. To me Elena is much more confident than this actress might be capable of, particularly as Elena is Alpha material. I could see Charlize Theron doing an awesome job :-)

Yes, we'll see, but I do think it's a positive that she has a black belt. I hope that will help make her a bit more authentic as a werewolf. But I do think it really hinges on who they choose for Clay cause he has to be hot enough to meet all the expectations built up by the books (& how do you find a man that every woman thinks is hot?).

Yes, I'm with the wait and see crowd. Supergirl isn't exactly who I had pictured as Elena. Yep, Clay and Jeremy will be the clinchers....

shes too...pretty...elena is considered average...none of the attributes of barbie but i think you guys are correct...all hinges on jeremy and clayton....they better not destroy this like they did to blood and chocolate

I think that choosing a 'pretty' actress isn't all together bad, now having seen her in smallville I'm also unsure but that being said, sometimes these wild card actors are truly great given a shot to shine. Can't wait to see who they cast as Clay and Jeremy, but also who they cast as antonio and nick.
