A First Look at Joss Whedon’s Much Ado About Nothing Trailer

We've been waiting for Joss Whedon's modern retelling of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, and while the release date is still ambiguous, the first trailer has been released. It reunites some of Whedon's regulars including Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel alums Alexis Denisof and Amy Acker as leads Benedick and Beatrice, as well as some familiar faces from Whedon's The Avengers. And did anyone else see Nathan Fillion slip in there?

What do you think of this modern re-telling? Does the black and white work for you or not?

Very excited to see this movie for the cast and director alone. Doesn't hurt that it's Shakespeare.

Fillion is playing Dogberry. If you saw the Branaugh version a few years ago, that's the character that Michael Keaton played to such laughs.

I think this looks good, it just hit my TBW list.

Okay. I'm biased. The Branagh version of Much Ado is my alltime favorite movie, and this one's not doing much for me, judging by the trailer.

However, the above aside, I despise Michael Keaton's Dogberry, and I could watch Nathan Fillion read the phone book and be entertained.

Not sure that's enough to get me in the theater, however.

I'd be interested to watch this and the David Tennant/Catherine Tate version back to back.

The fact that Joss also posted to Whedonesque and has started tweeting for the account @MuchAdoFilm from the Much Ado party--er, tour--bus on which he and the cast are headed to SXSW has made this trailer release even cooler. What a day!
