Jennifer Love Hewitt to Produce Modern Version of Pride and Prejudice For Lifetime

Judi Dench in Pride and Prejudice

The Hollywood Reporter reports:

Jennifer Love Hewitt is producing a modern-day TV adaptation of Pride and Prejudice for Lifetime called Darcy's Town. This version is set in small-town Virginia.

So—let's speculate, in comments, about any and all aspects of this new production. Will Darcy and Elizabeth's courtship be the focus of the series? Will Lydia marry poorly several times and wind up living in a trailer somewhere?

Will you watch?

Yes, I will watch! I want the Mr. Collins drama to be well-done too. And I'm wondering how they're going to do the ball scenes and Pemberley, etc.

(The Client List is also a guilty pleasure!)

I might watch. We've seen good modern adaptations of P&P and Emma, so anything's possible.

I--I just don't know. I mean, the themes and story lines in the book are universal, so could be translated to a modern setting, but it just seems so cheesy to me. I will probably watch, but it might be with one hand covering my eyes.

Another problem I just realized - how will this be spread out for more than a few (six? eight?) episodes? Hmmmm. :/
