What Romance Novel Have You Been Searching for the Longest?

More and more authors are taking advantage of the e-book revolution to republish their older, rarer titles in e-book form. But there are still some hard-to-find books that romance fans have been dying to find.

What book have you been looking for the longest? What’s the most you’ve ever paid for a HTF book?

I had it at one time, and she swears she'll never allow it to be reprinted but ~ Promise Me Tomorrow by Nora Roberts. Luckily I've read it several times, but STILL I need it to complete my library!

@MelissaB, that's terrible that she won't reprint it! Altho you COULD mention this to someone who should be giving you a holiday present.

My most HTF books are coming out slowly, from Mary Balogh and Carla Kelly. I didn't have all the rare ones from the former, I do from the latter, but the copies are old and worn.

Ooh, ooh, it was The Windflower until a friend sent me a copy a week ago (she had two.) I almost paid $28 for it on Ebay. It turns out it was probably worth that...amazing story...but I'm so grateful she shared her extra copy. Beautiful language and really great characters. (Thank you Kelly!!)

Before that it was Stormfire. Also a great book, if only for the WTFery.

I have The Windflower on my wish list. I keep holding out hope that I'll find it at a local rummage sale or something, before I push the button and spend $20+ on it.

In 2005 (I think) I spent $27 for a paperback copy of Merely Magic by Patricia Rice. It was OOP at the time, and I had read the rest of the series (except for Magic Man, that would come out in 2006). It was re-released in 2011 and is now available for Kindle as well, so of course prices have dropped dramatically. It's a cute series that I highly recommend.

I am still looking for some Elsie Lee books which were never published in the UK and are almost impossible to find. I just checked my Wish List - the only one which is available is £41, and as I've never read it I don't know whether it's worth that much!

I was very pleased to find a copy of Suzanne Enoch's Angel's Devil a couple of years before it was digitized for a very reasonable price - I think it was about £8.00 instead of the £25 or so it usually went for. It's one of her very early books, and I wanted to read them all.

I recently piad more than I wanted to for a Patricia Veryan book because it was key to a series of hers which I wnated to read. I'm still resisting paying over £17.00 for the last one I need...

I read this one a few years ago. All I remember is that it's set in a castle and the guys wife killed herself (think she went over a cliff?) enter new love interest. I remember that the dead wife haunts the place and new lover ends up having sex on the piano?? Any help appreciated.

@Ashmensch, I asked over at our Facebook page, and commenters there thought it might be Once Burned by Jeaniene Frost (a paranormal romance) or To Sir Phillip With Love by Julia Quinn (a historical romance). Do either of those sound right?
