Skinwalker

Jane Yellowrock is the last of her kind-a skinwalker of Cherokee descent who can turn into any creature she desires and hunts vampires for a living. But now she's been hired by Katherine Fontaneau, one of the oldest vampires in New Orleans and the madam of Katie's Ladies, to hunt a powerful rogue vampire who's killing other vamps...

Blood Cross

Jane Yellowrock is back on the prowl against the children of the night...

The vampire council has hired skinwalker Jane Yellowrock to hunt and kill one of their own who has broken sacred ancient rules-but Jane quickly realizes that in a community that is thousands of years old, loyalties run deep...

Mercy Blade

Things are heating up in the Big Easy. Weres have announced their existence to the world, and revived old enemies: vampires. As a trusted employee of Leo Pellissier, Blood Master of the City, Jane finds herself caught in the cross fire.

When Jane is attacked by a pack of marauding werewolves, she is thankful for the help of a mysterious stranger named Girrard. He explains that he used to be Leo's “Mercy Blade,” a sacred position charged with killing vampires who have gone insane. What Jane doesn't know is why this powerful assassin left New Orleans—or, more troubling, why he's now returned. It's definitely not to make Jane's life easier...

Raven Cursed

The vampires of Asheville, North Carolina, want to establish their own clan, but since they owe loyalty to the Master Vampire of New Orleans they must work out the terms with him. To come up with an equitable solution, he sends an envoy with the best bodyguard blood money can buy: Jane Yellowrock.

But when a group of local campers are attacked by something fanged, Jane goes from escort to investigator. Unless she wants to face a very angry mast vampire, she will have to work overtime to find the killer. It's a good thing she's worth every penny.

Death's Rival

For a vampire killer like Jane, having Leo Pellisier as a boss took some getting used to. But now, someone is out to take his place as Master Vampire of the city of New Orleans, and is not afraid to go through Jane to do it. After an attack that’s tantamount to a war declaration, Leo knows his rival is both powerful and vicious, but Leo’s not about to run scared. After all, he has Jane. But then, a plague strikes, one that takes down vampires and makes their masters easy prey.

Now, to uncover the identity of the vamp who wants Leo’s territory, and to find the cause of the vamp-plague, Jane will have to go to extremes…and maybe even to war.

I am a fan of shape shifters because most of them have a mate. The mate aspect makes sure that the shifter will love you no matter what your appearence or circumstances are. To have someone who loves only you and will continue to no matter what happens, is a romance reader's dream come true.
Furthermore, I love an alpha male and most shifters tend to be one and while I love vampires as well, in bed I know a shifter will keep me warm!

Have been a big fan of the Jane Yellowrock series. Think I really like the shapeshifters that are Kick Ass Women. Like Jane. Very interesting reading.

I like shapeshifters because in their alternate forms, they make us realize how humans are often like the non-human animals we share this planet with.

I've always loved shifter stories. I haven't read this one, but would love to read it. Heard good things about it. It's actually on my list. Hope I win it. I enjoy when shifters change into one form to another and how they use their "new" form to escape or fight from a dangerous situation. I love how their human abilities are enhanced because they are shifters. It's interesting to read how powerful they are than just the regular human. Thanks for the giveaway :)

I like shifters because of their 'mate-for-life' business and I also like how they just know who their mate is upon introduction. This series sounds great!

I love shapeshifters (and skinwalkers) because I think it's fantastic to be able to look human and then change into something more, but retain your human ability to think and reason.

When it comes down to nature vs nurture shifters are very "nature" it's not politics or right or wrong.. It's what feels right. They are more gut feeling than they are logical or step by step, at least in my opinion. And what's hotter than a primal alpha whether its a male or female?..

I'm a fan of shifters because they truly have an excuse of multiple personalities. I'm still trying to figure out what to tell people when my character's voices are talking to me and I'm the only one listening.

Sorry about the earlier blank post.

I like the shapeshifter books for several reasons. One is the ability to shift into something else that has it's own skill set and the greater senses that come with the shift. The mate aspect is another part that is fun. Reading a story where a mate bond means forever without possibility of cheating is omething we can like thinking about when real life is not that simple. Lastly, shifters tend to have hierarchies that compare to their wild counterparts which gives the characters even more dimensions.

I love that the animal is always just under the surface! And that pack and family are high priorities!

I love shapeshifters because of the sense of wildness about them. They are both person and animal, and it's interesting to read about the conflict and harmonizing between the two aspects of their nature.

Not only do I love shapeshifters, I love Jane Yellowrock! This series is smart and really well done. I was not a huge fan of shifters until recently. I think authors have really stepped up their games with excellent world buidling and great use of the mythology in recent years.
I love the combination of human and animal, the conflict of the dual natures, and the way characters find a way to deal with both. And the sex is hot, too!

I love shapeshifters because there is just something raw and powerful about them. They are always super alpha and over protective which makes them fun to read about. It also helps that they are usually sexy as hell in a rugged sort of way! YUM!

The whole idea of being able to turn into a tiger or lion or panther or jaguar is soooo awesome! I wish I could do that, I'm a big feline fan :-)

24. BoxyFrown
Shifters are awesome - they live with these amazing abilities, but the abilites almost always come at a price. Sometimes they can't control the change, sometimes they can, but it's painful, sometimes they end up smelling/scenting way too much and get too much information about people! It's a lesson in taking who you are and making the most of it.

I'm a fan of shifters because I'd love to be one. Just think of the possibilities!

My favorite part of shapeshifters has little to do with their changing - it's usually the unique problems they face and the resulting 'fun' that attracts me.

Shifter books are so much fun! Im never bored. The stories can be intense and sexy i.e. Nalini Singh or laugh-out-loud funny and sexy i.e. Shelly Laurenston. Also Ilona Andrews shifters in the Edge & Kate Andrews series can break your heart like nobody business...and Hellooo! 'Mate-for-Life' I'm down for that : )

A person can dream. To become someone or something other than what you are and return to what form you wish or need most at the time. I just wish there were more unspecified shapeshifters in stories where any form could be possible.

I love a good shifter story. I love each authors take on the shifter. I especially love wolf stories. I also like a strong alpha & betas are always good too. The alpha is the protector and the fighter. The beta is the person that calms and makes everyone feel safe. Thanks for the giveaway. This is a new author and series for me.

I am a fan of shifters, or at least stories about shifters, because being a shifter gives a character a compelling interal conflict plus lots of cool abilities.
Neeta Kulkarni
39. cheetah_pita
I like the idea of dual personalities, and I like seeing characters resolve problems between the two personalities to become a more controlled singular "person" rather than two halves (human half + animal half). I like the idea of the additional abilities being able to shapeshift gives a character as well.
Eva Millien

I'll be entirely honest in that I enjoy watching them on film (Ginger Snaps, The Howling, An American Werewolf in Paris, etc.) However I haven't really seen the genre given justice on the printed page. Maybe it's because I'm more of a crime guy. Don't know. Or maybe I just need a set of Faith Hunter books to set me straight.

Ultimately though, the idea that someone can temporarily leave the standard of living - y'know, work, bills, etc. - and step into something richer and of a more liberated status is compelling. If done correctly. Otherwise they become a housepet you want to stick outside in the cold for peeing on the carpet.
Roger Simmons 1
45. Cynthia S.
It just does not get better than Faith Hunter's Jane Yellowrock series. These books have it all; great plot, strong characters, steaming sensuality and a wry sense of humor. Whether you win them or not--treat yourself to the best!
Jessica Larlee
46. darklove923
I am a fan of shapeshifters because we all have something a little extra about ourselves.its just a matter of unlocking what that 'other' is. Reading books with shapeshifters just brings that side out as a whole new entity. One that can go against laws of nature, it adds a slice of magic having that other hold a true physical form or embodiment. Its dangerous and sexy, its cunning and tame. Its everything we hold back.
Linda Pierce
47. antydragn2
Love shape shifting books because of the strength of character the lead characters have to have.
Whitney Smyth
49. Rubyhawk
There's a lot to like in Faith Hunter's series. I love that there is a strong female protagonist, who kicks butt, and yet is strangely vulnerable when it comes to emotional things. The shifting ability is extremely well devised and always entertaining to read. There's a primal edge becuase of her abilities, and the other creatures she comes in contact with. Most of all, I'm a fan of this series because they are so hard to put down!
Deborah Blake
50. deborahblake
I like shapeshifter because they can show the most and least human traits, exaggerated or submerged.
deb wallen
51. sistercuervo
Shapeshifters are a favorite of mine because they have not just the spirit of a beast, but are influenced by their humanity, whether for good or evil. In Jane's case, her Beast sees her surroundings through Beast-eyes and heart, but Jane's humanity can still influence her to not kill. She doesn't become submerged in her animal instincts the way a were might, but her protective instincts, toward cubs, for instance, humanize Beast.
I already have all of the Jane Yellowrock books and enjoy them immensely. If you haven't read them, definitely give them a try!
Peggy Ostrander
52. mystic506
To be human with intellect and the ability to think but then, a a shifter, to be able to let go, to be free and strong. To be beyond the society norms. A shifter can walk between the two worlds.
Lee Watts
53. lwatts1969
I am a fan of shifters but this series takes the cake! I love the different perceptions from Jane and Beast. I almost feel alone in my skin after reading this series.
April Vrugtman
54. draccan
I love the idea of being able to change how you interact and view the world. I also love animals so it is fun to imagine being able to see into their minds.

The good shifter series, like the Jane Yellowrock series, don't use the shifting as a cure all for plot holes or just for show - they use it to allow the reader a different view and a different way of seeing a problem as well as showing how things you may not even consider are important when you aren't as you normally are. Possibly you won't fit in normal clothes and chairs or can't see colors or are seen as something lesser or not as deserving of thought and care. This gives you a way to see things you might be doing wrong or understanding others and their problems easier.

I enjoy the fact that shapeshifters are mortal and have two lives. They seem to suffer the same day to day problems, but also have a really nifty way of solving them. Then they have the weird stuff come at them and find even a weirder way to solve that issue. Plus the humor factor.

Hi! I am a huge fan of just about any kind of animal, and so that is what makes shapeshifters so appealing to me - the ability to BE an animal-like creature, even if it is just temporary. Jane gets to slink and pounce like a cat, fly like a bird, and sniff like a hound - and that is just in 1 book. Jealous.

62. tstray1
We are all animals but bound to one shape. This is something that we love to toy with in our heads, the 'but what if I could be a ... ?'. Its a way to reach out and touch another life while maintaining who we are in our heads. Shape shifting has so many possibilites ... so many new experiences. I would enjoy reading this authors works to see what she brings to the table.

my favorite shifters by any author are those that have the best qualities of the animal. how they shift (partial, regular animal, super-sized animal) isn't really important to me. it's about the loyalty to the pack, and all those other great animal traits

Shapeshifters have dual-lives, maybe dual-loyalties, too. One of the things I like the most about reading about them is an author's description of how the shift takes place, whether it's the physical changes, or the mental/emotional changes. That varies from author to author, and it's neat to see how different people's imaginations have worked.
