Moon, Spoon...Sex?: June’s Best Erotic Reading

Sweet Dreams by Kristen AshleyIn need of some sexy reading material to fill your e-reader? I’m here for you. Each month I will bring you an assortment of erotic pleasure reads to tempt your palate—and your credit card....

June is the beginning of the dog days of summer, and I have plenty of hot men and women to make you—and your e-reader—sweat.

Sweet Dreams (Colorado Mountain, #2) by Kristen Ashley

Lauren Grahame has spent her whole life thinking something special was going to happen. She didn’t know what it was, she just knew it would one day be hers. But she learned the hard way that special wasn’t on offer. So, after divorcing her cheating husband, Lauren searched for nothing special and she thought she found it when she landed a job as a waitress in a biker bar in Carnal. It was perfect: a nothing job in a nowhere bar in Nowheresville. Then Tatum Jackson walked in. Part-owner of the bar, he took one look at high-class Lauren and wanted nothing to do with her. And he made this known, loudly.

Tate’s angry insults seared in her brain, Lauren decides the feeling is mutual and she doesn’t want anything to do with the gloriously handsome Tate Jackson. The clash of the bartender and barmaid begins but, even though Tate makes his change of mind clear (in biker-speak, a language Lauren is not fluent in), Lauren is intent on going her own way. Until a serial killer hits Carnal and Lauren finds out Tate isn’t a bartender, he’s a bounty hunter. He stakes his claim for Lauren before he goes on the hunt for a killer, but Laurie doesn’t speak biker, nor does she understand bounty hunters, and Tate comes back from the hunt to find his old lady has moved on.

Life throws curveball after curveball at Laurie and Tate. As secrets are revealed, women are brutally murdered, and Lauren tries to find her inner biker babe.

One of my favorite television channels is the SyFy channel. The C/D grade monster movies they show are my secret passion. The worse the effects, the happier I am. Kristen Ashley’s erotics have have the same effect on me. Neither particularly well-written nor well-edited, her over-testosterone filled alphas and the TSTL heroines call to me like a siren leading sailors to their death. Referred to as “crack” on various reader sites, Ashley has gained a cult-like following. You will either love or hate her stories, but I guarantee you’ll never forget them.

Possession: A Little Harmless Military Romance by Melissa SchroederPossession: A Little Harmless Military Romance by Melissa Schroeder

Loving a military man isn’t always easy and sometimes living with him is impossible.

Deke Berg has been in love with Samantha for ten years. From the moment they met, they could never keep their hands off each other. Their marriage was volatile and short-lived, and they were both much too young. Now, though, Deke knows what he wants in life, and Samantha is at the center of his plans. Unfortunately, Samantha is wary of marriage—especially to a man who broke her heart.

Sam has always loved Deke. Being a former military brat, she thought she’d been prepared for life as a military spouse. But the long separations were hard, especially dealing with the stranger who returned home. When she asked him to choose, he left and she tried to move on. She doesn’t know if she can handle that pain again, but after spending a night together in Hawaii, it’s impossible for her to ignore him.

Old prejudices and painful memories aren’t easy to overcome, but there is one thing Deke understand: Samantha is his woman, and he will do anything to prove his love and win her back.

Possession is a short, steamy erotic romance about two stubborn people who are offered a second chance at love.

Red Ribbon by Lila DuboisRed Ribbon by Lila Dubois

Running into an old friend isn’t a big deal, unless you’re attending a BDSM mixer. When Liz, a woman who has it all—except a sex life—sees college pal Mark in the parking lot, she brushes off her embarrassment and agrees to go out for coffee to catch up.

Mark assumes Liz is a Domme, but when she reveals her red ribbon—a ribbon identifying her as a sub—he has to have her. He makes her complete a sex checklist that lists every toy, kink, position and taboo he might do to her, on her, or with her.

Though desperate for this relationship to work, Liz cannot fully accept her desires or bring herself to submit passively. She wants Mark to master her, to dominate her. Mark is delighted by the way she challenges him, and with one touch, he knows she’s his perfect sexual match.

Now they face their greatest challenge yet, that forbidden territory that lies outside the bedroom…dating.

Red Ribbon is vanilla BDSM that explores the wants, needs, and acceptance of two people who are exploring their kinks.

Light Switch by Lauren GallagherLight Switch by Lauren Gallagher

After far too much lackluster sex with her now-ex-boyfriend, Kristen Locke isn’t just ready to try something new. She’s ready to try everything. And as luck would have it, two of her good friends are more than willing to introduce her to the kinkier side of life: Experienced dominant Scott Moore wants to bring out the submissive in her. Neighbor and voyeur Matt Sommers quite literally sees the exhibitionist in her.

Little by little, they open up a whole new world to her, and Kristen’s about to learn that love can be found in the most unusual places…

Light Switch is a very hot and steamy full length book that focuses on a young woman’s journey into BDSM and her two best friends who help her along. Many kinks are explored and a rare look at polyamory is offered. What I really enjoyed is that this is NOT a menage. The relationships between the three are separate, even though they are all together.

Armed and Dangerous by Abigail RouxArmed and Dangerous by Abigail Roux

Left alone in Baltimore after his unpredictable lover bails, Special Agent Zane Garrett takes his frustration out on everything in his path until he is ordered to Chicago to back up an undercover operative. When he gets there, though, he finds himself face to face with his wayward partner, Special Agent Ty Grady. They have to deal with the uncertainty lingering between them while they work to retrieve their intended mark, a retired hit man and CIA wet-works operative named Julian Cross.

Ty, once a marine and now an FBI hotshot, has a penchant for being unpredictable, a trait Zane can vouch for. Zane is a man who once lived for his job but has come to realize his heartbreaking past doesn’t have to overshadow his future. They’re partners, friends, lovers, and the go-to team for unusual cases. With Cross and his innocuous boyfriend, Cameron Jacobs, in tow, Ty and Zane must navigate the obstacles of a cross-country trek, including TSA pat-downs, blizzards, their uncooperative prisoners, CIA kill teams, a desperate lack of sleep or caffeine, and each other. Ty and Zane are determined to get Julian Cross to D.C. in one piece, but it’s starting to look like it might be the last thing they do.

Everyone who loves the insane, emotionally volatile FBI agents and lovers Zane and Ty will absolutely FLIP over this latest installment. Fast pacing and an explosive plot is only further enhanced by the relationship of our protagonists. I love these boys so much. I want to add that this one and the rest of the series will be written by Roux only.

What’s getting you all hot and bothered this June?

A question.... do I need to read all of the previous Cut & Run books to read Armed & Dangerous? I am hearing such great things about it, but didn't know if it would work as a stand alone.

Thanks!

Kimkm-I think you do. While each has a resolvable conflict, it's the evolving realtionship between our heroes, Ty and Zane, that makes this series. Ty and Zane are at a point in here that can't be appreciated unless you read the previous installments.

Great selection, Tori! I'll try Melissa S. and Light Switch ("not menage" comment decided for me). I read only Kristen Ashley's Dream Man series and I had same problem with her books - I don't like her heroines. ::facepalm::
Armed & Dangerous is my favorite book this year. I can't wait for next book. Heard there's going to be some phone sex.;)
What got me hot and bothered:
Love's Rhytm by Lexxie Couper - Oh, this one is great. It's about rock star who realise that something's missing in his life.
Hart Signs by Cari Quinn - I bought this one because of blurb. Hero puts billboard love notes for his wife and heroine works for billboard company. She is swooned by this and then one day his wife dies. This story has everything, I recommend it wholeheartedly.
Diversion by Eden Winters - This is great m/m romance. Two completely opposite guys who are flawed in their own way trying to put down prescription drug smugglers. Suspense, romance and hot sex all in one.

Thanks Tori! I'll start from the beginning. I also read a sample of Warrior's Cross, and it appears that the prisoners in Armed and Dangerous are from that book, so I suppose I'll want to read that too. Yikes..... my Amazon account will be frightening!

LegeArts-I'm totally getting Hart Signs by Cari Quinn and Diversion by Eden Winters. Thanks for the recs.
I enjoyed Light Switch. I think because it's friends to lovers but not a menage in the true sense. Of course, some m/m action wouldn't have hurt my feelings but...hey...can't have it all. *sigh*

Kimkm-Yes, you originally meet Julian & his guy in Warriors Cross. lol I haven't read that one but I have been told it's well worth it.

Thanks everyone for rec's! I'm new to the site and was getting frustrated buying books w/o real people rec's. Other authors don't really count:)
