J.R. Ward’s Rapture Has a Cover!

Rapture by J.R. WardThe cover for J.R. Ward’s Rapture, book 4 in the Fallen Angels series, has been released!

Here’s the goodreads description:

After reporter Mels Carmichael hits a disheveled man with her car outside the local cemetery, she pays a visit to the stranger in the hospital. The only thing he remembers of his past is seeing a name written on a headstone: that of Jim Heron—a fallen angel charged with rescuing souls from the seven deadly sins. Now, as Mels struggles to help this mysterious stranger rediscover himself, Heron himself returns to prepare for a battle between good and evil.

This is the first Fallen Angels book to appear in hardcover, and the cover looks a lot different from the first three Fallen Angels’ books, which had various iterations of male chests. Rapture will be out September 25, 2012.

I saw this a while ago and people were speculating that it was only a fan made cover because it is so different from the first three in the series.

I think it's really nice but I don't like how different it is. But then again - I'm a matchy matchy kind of person. I like all my books to match. If I can only get one in paperback then the rest of the series I want the same way. Same thing with the look of the covers.

But like I said - it's really nice.

I'm with you Kate...I'll get it b/c I do lovw the series, but I'm waiting for the paperback...thats how I've got the rest in this series plus hardcover take up too much space!!!

I am more irritated by it being hardcover because that always effects ebook pricing as well, dang it. It could have a poorly drawn stick figure on the cover and I'd still buy it, the last book in this series was AMAZING. Can't wait for this book (even if the cover is kinda dorky).

I hate it when they go hardcover. They cost so much and if I don't like the book it really makes me upset I wasted the money. If I don't like a paperback, it's only 7 or 8 bucks. I can live with that. Also, the cover kind of looks like it belongs on a YA book (not that I'm bashing YA books but they all seem to have a certain look these days...loved Divergent and Cinder). I kind of liked the man candy covers from the paperbacks more.

I have to agree with Sassytarheel on several points, being that when the books go hardcover they cost more and I like the man candy covers also. In fact, I have Lover Unleashed in hardcover and I didn't like that book at all. The only reason I keep it is because I don't want to break up my BDB library. As for this cover, I don't like it at all. There's nothing there that screams Rapture to me. Whose idea was this?

I love this cover, looks dark and mysteries. I don't mind having this in hardcover and i do own the rest of this series and DB.

I'm with Paranormal Kate and a few others here - I hate when I 've started collecting books in one format (as I have with this series), and then they change the format on me. However, I have a suggestion that I have found works for me, especially since becoming unemployed and having my book-buying budget put on a necessarily VERY strict limit. Put the book on reserve at your local library, or request they purchase it, or whatever you need to do to make sure you can get it from your library as soon as possible after it is released, so you can read it right away. Then, you can wait to actually purchase it when it comes out in the format you want. I am a big fan of mass-markets for their price and portability, not to mention they are usually the formats my favorite books/series come out in first. And, while I do own a Nook, and read e-books when they are a) the only formats available, or b) free or extremely cheap reads, I'd rather own print copies.
