Rereading, Again, and Again...and Again!

Book image courtesy of SimplySteff via FlickrIn the comments to our Great BDB Reread: J.R. Ward’s Lover Awakened, H&H community member Jdgardners says she’s read each of the Black Dagger Brotherhood books at least 25 times.

Wow. What romance novel have you read the most?

I confess that the BDB is also the series I have re-read the most, maybe not 25 times, but certainly ten each. The other books are Handling Sin by Michael Malone, the funniest book ever written, and In This House of Brede by Rumer Godden, which recharges my batteries every tie.

That would be "time" not "tie." Ugh.

I love to go back to Georgette Heyer's Venetia. Probably read that one 10 times by now. :)

I couldn't read any of the BDB books more than once, the plot and all the happy endings just got on my nerves haha.

I've read Maledicte by Lane Robins over 6 times now. It's not really considered a romance book per say, it actually falls under dark fantasy more, however it does have plently of romantic elements.

I'm a chronic re-reader and keep a selection to satisfy any mood I might find myself in. My favorites are:

Agnes and the Hitman and Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie
Memory by Louise MacMaster Bujold
Ghost Ship by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller (I change within this series)
Gaudy Night by Dorothy L. Sayers

I read Kate Daniels and Downside Ghosts series at least 5 times. My reread favorites in romance section are The Madness of Lord Ian MacKenzie, Dreaming of You, And Then He Kissed Her and Mr Impossible.
But the novel I read over and over again since highschool and it's always interesting to me is The Road to Gandolfo by Robert Ludlum. I don't know why, I always laugh reading it, even now. It's my comfort book. I don't even like so much his other books, but The Road to Gandolfo I adore.

Smooth talking Stranger by Lisa Kleypas. The best part is that I've never bought it, so I have to put it on hold at the library each time I'm in the mood ~ which happens 3 or 4 times a year.

I re-read all Jayne Ann Krentz and all Linda Howard books constantly too.

All Things Beautiful by Catherine Maxwell - I've read it so many times I know it by heart. Then Whitney My Love by Judith McNaught, Ever His Bride by Linda Needham (what happened to this author?), Once a Rake by Rona Sharon, Pride of Lions by Marsha Canham.... I could go on and on, but I should stop. These are more or less the feel-good books I re-read each year.

Oh and Duke of Shadows by Meredith Duran... ok I'm stopping now.

I reread Lisa Kleypas' historicals, Julia Quinn, Nalini Singh (Psy-Changeling series), Susan Elizabeth Phillips, some Linda Howard, some Lorraine Heath. Recently I've added Courtney Milan to my reread pile.

For me, my most-frequently-reread is Flowers from the Storm by Laura Kinsale, but I haven't read it twenty five times. That's hardcore!

Like @playsthetart and @JenniferH, my most frequently re-read novel is undoubtedly one by Georgette Heyer, I'm just not sure which one. Although I frequently re-read both Frederica and Venetia, my most re-read GH is probably The Devil's Cub, These Old Shades, Black Sheep, or The Grand Sophy.

To be honest, I've probably re-read all of GH's historical romances at least a couple dozen times each. But then, I started reading them more than 40 years ago. ;->

I have the "Cynster Collection" by Stephanie Laurens and re-read those when I can't seem to find something that grabs me. I like a family series - you still get tidbits of different members throughout the whole thing. Also, as mentioned above Lisa Kleypas - her "Sugar Daddy, Blue-eyed Devil & Smooth Talkin Stranger".
It's all good!

I read and re-read Linda Howard's Now You See Her. I don't know why, but I just love it. I read it at least once a year and have actually had to buy another hardcover copy because I wore out the first one :-)

I reread the "Cynster" books by Stephanie Laurens, the breed books by Lora Leigh, any Christine Feehan series, Sherrilyn Kenyon Dark Hunter series, Lara Adrian Midnight series, Eliosa James, Sabrina Jefferies, Janet Chapman. I guess I could go on and on.

It's Welcome to Temptation. I have it in hardback, got it when it first came out, so I've been taking good care of it. I bring that out for a reread about once a year. It's a comfort. Don't know if this counts, but I've also got Mercedes Lackey's The Last Herald-Mage trilogy in paperback, and I've reread it several times over the years. With that set, I like to wait until I've forgotten more of the plot points before I reread it.

One of the first romances I ever read was The Black Lyon, by Jude Deveraux. I've probably read it a dozen times since. Also, when I was about 18 my mother gave me a copy of The Windflower, by Laura London after I mentioned how much I enjoyed The Bad Baron's Daughter, and I have to say that is probably my most reread book. My original copy fell apart about 10 years ago and luckily my used bookstore had a decent copy, so I still have it on the shelf for when I need a little bit of Merry, Devon, and Cat. I would love to see it made into a movie!

@pelyken- you're so lucky!

The Windflower is the one book I wanted badly that I've never been able to get my hands on. Damn that budget thing!

Black Dagger Brotherhood series - each at least 5 times and I'm reading the series again in preparation for Lover Reborn.

Laurann Dohner's New Species series - excellent

But, the book I've read more times than I can count is Intimate Strangers (originally titled Tender Mercy). "Tender is the mercy of a lover for [he] will liberate my soul and heal my heart." Yep.

My absolute comfort books is and will always be "Pride and Prejudice " by Jane Austen. It was the book that first introduced me to romance novels with plot twists. I will read it at least once every year. After that I also enjoy reareading the Cynster series by Stephanie Laurens, any Nora Roberts ,I love the Nauti series by Lora Leigh and the Roughrider series by Lorelei James. In a different direction, I own most of the Betty Neels books and when I need a plain and simple read where the heroine always gets her man without to much trouble and no sex. I just love her writing style even if they are all basicly the same. I really know alot about Holland through them. In the same vein I am in the process of rereading all the Margaret Way books to see how she progress's in her writing style, and freshen up on Australia !!

I love Nora Roberts Quinn brother series too. But my very favorite is Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. Each one gets better and better. I have read them and listened to the audio several times

OK so I am so boring. Twilight, et al, I have read umpteen times. Then Richelle Mead's Succubus Blues Series. The Seth situation just does something for me. Also, Jane Eyre, what a classic!

Nalini Singh has me re-reading both her series every other month; they drive me crazy. Jayne Ann Krentz is my comfort author. Absolutely, Positively is just amazingly perfect to me.

My first reread fall-back is Dickens' Great Expectations, then Calvino's If On A Winter's Night A Traveller. Fantasty reread favorite is Anne Bishop's Black Jewels series. Romance reread is probably something by Jenny Crusie because she makes me laugh everytime. Strange... I don't have a crime reread favorite... Does Clancy's Patriot Games count?

I tend to go on kicks and reread the entire booklist of an particular author at a time. Favorites are Loretta Chase, Laura Kinsale, Sherry Thomas, Jennifer Cruisie, Judith Ivory, J.R. Ward, Jo Goodman (especially the Heart trilogy) and now I've added Kristan Higgins, Courtney Milan, and Meredith Duran. I've read all of these books multiple times. Heaven, Texas and See Jane Score are big favs, too, when I'm in a sports mood. Oddly enough, I've never had the urge to reread any of Nora Roberts' books, as much as I enjoy reading them the first time.

I have several that I go back to very often. Juliet Mariller's Daughter of the Forest is the first. I also have a guilty pleasure of Night's Play by Sherrilyn Kenyon, which is a little hokey with some of the unbelievable things Vane does with Bride, but I still love that book. I also reread a lot of Nalini Singh both Guild Hunter's and PsyChangeling series, well and then there are a few of the BDB too.(Zsadist and Butch especially). I have an entire bookshelf in my office that is filled with a series of books that I reread when I have nothing new to read just as refreshers or just as "ahhh" reads.

I reread "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee every summer. My grandmother gave me the book for my birthday the year it was released, 1960. It taught me some things that have stayed with me for a lifetime, so I reread it every year. This summer I will read it for the 52nd time.

I reread many books, but by far most of them are by Jayne Ann Krentz and Nora Roberts. When I was younger I read Elizabeth Peters' books over and over. And before that it was Mary Stewart.
