Vow to Be Warmer: Colder Temperatures Increases Desire to See Romance Films

The Vow—out in theaters now—busted box office records for midweek Valentine’s Day-release movie receipts, and now we know why (and it’s not necessarily that Channing Tatum is shirtless):

Scientists have found evidence that physical coldness activates a need for the psychological warmth.”

The scientists changed the temperature and then asked the study’s participants about their preference of movie. The participants who were in colder temperatures wanted romance films, such as The Vow.

And, you know, there’s shirtless Channing Tatum.
