Lord Byron: An Insatiable Collector

Lord ByronIf you’ve read historicals set in the Regency period, no doubt at some point you’ve encountered Lord Byron, first name George, whom his lover Lady Caroline Lamb dubbed, “mad, bad, and dangerous to know.”

Apparently George was dangerous because of his OCD: Not only did he keep a list of all of his lovers, sleeping with 250 women in one year alone, he also—gulp!—retained a keepsake from each one:

A snip of hair from his lovers’ lady-parts (remember, this is before Brazilians).

What’s the weirdest keepsake/memorabilia you’ve read about in books, or done yourself?
