Heroic Ending: What Characters Should Find Love?

It seems like every character in a romance novel—even if they start out as the villain—eventually gets his or her own HEA (Happy Ever After).

But what if the character, even if a protagonist, is not in a romance novel? Don’t you wish, just once, that a great character—Harry Dresden, Columbo*, Tyrion, Lisbeth Salander, Jack Reacher, Dr. House—would get a satisfactorily happy ending?

Because, come on, how fun would it be to read Lisbeth in Love?

Whose story would you like to see?

*a commenter pointed out Columbo had a wife. Sorry, Mrs. Columbo!

In thinking about this last night, I realized I'd really like John Luther (played by the stunning Idris Elba) from Luther to get a happy ending. Not necessarily with psychopath Alice, although that is tempting, because imagine the fun they'd have. But Luther isn't going to go on forever, so wouldn't it be great if they got him settled as they ended the show? He deserves some happiness, the poor guy.

Still Waiting for Ellen Ripley's story. Her and old Hicks never did get their HEA.

Lt. Columbo actually was married. He referred to his wife many times during the run of the series, and a few years after cancellation, there was a short-lived mystery series that starred Kate Mulgrew as Mrs. Columbo solving mysteries on her own.

Would love to see Jaime Lannister and Brienne of Tarth get a HEA. Knowing how GRRM likes to turn the tropes of the genre on their collective heads, I doubt its likely. But what a sweet pairing that would have been ..

Great suggestions from every corner! For myself, top of my list would be the Winchester boys from Supernatural. At the very least it would be nice if the show had the occasional recurring female character who didn't get brutally killed.

@bookestorecat - I totally agree with you about the Winchester brothers, they definitely need some more girls in that show who don't get killed off! Ruby and Anna were great!
