Robert Pattinson Wants to Be Your “Good Friend” (wink!) in Bel Ami

Can Robert Pattinson walk out of the darkness and into the light of film success? So far, not so much (see: Water for Elephants). The clip for his upcoming film, Bel Ami, shows our Edward as a fortune-hunter gigolo during the belle epoque, a far cry from his ’I’m very dead and nearly as honorable’ Twilight persona.

Bel Ami, based on a Guy de Maupassant story, also stars Uma Thurman, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Christina Ricci, and is in theaters March, 2012.

Do you buy Pattinson as a ruthless Lothario? Or do you think he should just stay dead already?

He never wanted to be so highly famous, Twilight was originally intended to be a small indy film. Fame clearly overwhelms him. I hope he continues to choose the films he 'wishes' to make rather than the films most would think an actor would want to take. Only then will he regain his peace. It will send the screaming children (both in body and mind) home.
