What Series do You Want to See?

Screenrant recently posted a list of the 10 Fantasy Series That Could Make Great TV, and their list includes such romance-y crossover favorites as Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander, Jacqueline Carey’s Kushiel’s Legacy, and Lois McMaster Bujold’s Chalion series.

Which got us to thinking—which Romance Series could make great TV? Most romances have so much internal monologuing, and nobody wants to watch some guy thinking about the sheen of her hair or how her gown flows over her backside (do they? Maybe we’re wrong!).

But there are series that would make great TV. Many paranormal series, of course, because there’s the added dimension of supernatural creatures. Are there any historical series that would be sufficiently action-packed to qualify? How about contemporary? A few that spring to mind include Anne Stuart’s Ice series, Elizabeth Hoyt’s Maiden Lane series, and Tara Janzen’s Steele Street series. All suggestions welcome in comments!

Bertrice Small's O'Malley saga could keep HBO or Showtime busy for a few seasons - gorgeous costumes, royal intrigue, international adventure and memorable characters. It's a natural.

Richelle Mead's Georgina Kincaid series could work. You'd get mystery elements, fantasy elements and great secondary characters. (Though, I suppose, you'd need to get John Cusack to sign on as Jerome...)

I would love to see Bujold's Vorkosigan series made into a tv show, focusing on Mile's adventures in the Dendarii's. As for romance, Nora Robert's Brides quartet would make a great tv series. It could focuse on one couple per season and use different weddings / events for each week's episode.

I would love to see the Vorkosigan books, and in the realm of historical romance, Dorothy Dunnett's Lymond series. (Unfortunately, I have no idea who they'd cast as Lymond - I had a yen for Toby Stephens a long time ago, but he's too old for that role now!)

I'd kind of like to see Robb's in Death series on TV. Good cast of characters to keep things interesting. And I'd love to see who they'd cast as Summerset. :)

I want Harry Dresden back on TV! Paul Blackthorne was a nigh-perfect Harry!

And The Mercy Thompson series wouldn't be bad on network TV... very appealing main character, kind of an anti-Buffy, with a host of cool secondary characters.

@mlsky: Speaking of The Dresden Files TV series, I would cast Terrence Mann (who played Bob) as Summerset. He has snark and priss down pat! (laughing!)

@Rose-that was inspired. Now I'm going to see this actor as Summerset, even though I think he's too tall for it.
